'56 The following sophomore boys helped the foot- ball team: Dave Hoffmann, Jack Kaphingst, Car- ley Lepak, Vernon Mazemke, Eddie Prill, Chuck Jepson, Bud Martin, Dave Peterson, and Merlin Becker. Chuck Jepson, Jack Kaphingst, Carley Lepak, and Dave Peterson were on the 'A' basketball squad, while Merlin Becker, Dave Hoffmann, Chuck Jepson, Jack Kaphingst, Carley Lepak, Bob Mar- tin, Bud Martin, and Dave Peterson played on the 'B' squad. Five members of the class went out for for- ensics. Shirley Chioh, Mary Jo Hoffmann, and Jack Kaphingst went on to Amherst. Sixteen of the members were active in band and other musi- cal organizations. Nine girls were in chorus and a few of them entered in the solo-ensemble con- test. Jany Crane and Carol Ja- wort went out for forensics. Sev- eral girls were members of the F.H.A. and G.A.A. and they parti- cipated ln the activities during the course of the year. Sally Roentz was their representative in the Homecoming court of honor. Those boys who went out for football this year were: Tom Wheeler, Paul Fermaniok, Hugh Leischow, Bill Allen, Don Krueger Tom Martin, Clarence Samson, Don Knudsen, and Ray Peterson. Bob Flater and Lyle Becker were mana- gers. Those out for basketball were Bill Allen, Hugh Lelschow, Tom Martin, Don Knudsen, and Paul Fermanick.
