'56 The following sophomore boys helped the foot- ball team: Dave Hoffmann, Jack Kaphingst, Car- ley Lepak, Vernon Mazemke, Eddie Prill, Chuck Jepson, Bud Martin, Dave Peterson, and Merlin Becker. Chuck Jepson, Jack Kaphingst, Carley Lepak, and Dave Peterson were on the 'A' basketball squad, while Merlin Becker, Dave Hoffmann, Chuck Jepson, Jack Kaphingst, Carley Lepak, Bob Mar- tin, Bud Martin, and Dave Peterson played on the 'B' squad. Five members of the class went out for for- ensics. Shirley Chioh, Mary Jo Hoffmann, and Jack Kaphingst went on to Amherst. Sixteen of the members were active in band and other musi- cal organizations. Algy Olson dropped out during the course of the year and Patricia Boutwell joined our class. At their first class meeting the following officers were elected: President, Gordon Fergg V1oe-pres1- dent, Vernon Mazemkeg Secretary- Treasurer, Charlotte Ebert: and stu- dent oouncil representatives, Sandra Klapoer and Georgiann Henschel. From their class Sally Hart was elected to be an A team cheerlead- er and Georgiann Henschel a 'Bn team cheerleader.
