JUNIOR ACTIVITIES The junior year is one of the busiest years in the life of a high school student. In order to have the means with which to entertain the Seniors, and to be able to con- tribute a gift to the school, the class of '53 started early to earn the needed money, Their first project was 8 food sale and lunch on October 13, 1951, clearing about twenty- five dollars. They also sold pop and candy at baseball games. Due to the support given them by others, their next project, a card sale, was also successful--netting the class about two hundred dollars, Undernthe direction of Mr. Madison the junior Play is now in progress. The plans for the junior-Senior banquet are rather incornplete, but the junior class wishes to express appreciation to all who have helped them this year. Especially they wish to thank Mr, Madison and the three Senior boys for the time and effort given to their play, The Red Spider, SOPHOMORE CLASS On March 7, 1952, the Sophomore class, sponsored by Coach Beasley, held a dance in the Little Sioux gymnasium, Following the dance was a Cake Walk, Everyone was invited and the proceeds from the dance went for Playground Equipment. The proceeds from the Cake Walk were used to swell the Sophomore class fund, IN A PPR ECIATION While the basketball girls were playing the county and sectional tournaments, many honors were bestowed upon them. Frank Kilts gave them candy bars after the Beebeetown defeat in the county tournament, Harry Pippitt gave them ice cream bars after they defeated Mondamin in the county tournament and Woodbine in the sectional tournament. Lawrence Glasser treated all the girls to malted milks and Sam McColley gave them pop. Elias Riley honored them by giving them an oyster supper after they won the county tournament. Harley Warren and Holger jensen treated the basketball girls to a steak supper because they went far enough in the sectional tournament to play in the champion- ship game, The town people gave a party after both final games in the county and sectional tournaments. The girls' basketbxall team 'wishes to thank everyone for taking such a deep interest in them. They appreciated it very much. COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT We have been very fortunate for several years, in having a well organized commercial department. Mrs, Vada Glasser, the 'commercial teacher, has given'of her best to the students in this field. Many have gone to well paying jobs, For a small school we have indeed been fortunate, The annual staff wishes to thank the typing department for their help in preparing this yearbook.

School Activities ol '51 -'52 FRESHMAN INITIATION U On September 28, 1951, the Seniors initiated the Class of 1955 into Little Sioux High School, In the evening, after a long day of obeying, dodging, and bowing to the Seniors, they were entertained at a Li'l Abner Party in Dogpatch gymnasium. After the blindfolded Freshmen tiptoed and crawled, over and around various devices of an obstacle course, games were played, and refreshments, served by the Juniors, were enjoyed by all. CHRISTMAS PR OGRAM The Little Sioux School put on a Christmas Program December 20, 1951. A lot of time and effort was put forth to make it a success, Mr, Madison was the director of the high school play, The grade rooms contributed to the program, Santa arrived after the program and supplied the children with candy. SQ UAR E DANCE Numerous square dances have been held in the Little Sioux High School gymasium to furnish amusement for the students and community. The proceeds have helped to swell the activity fund, Mr. and Mrs. Kelp provided the music, playing for both modern and square dances, Lunch was served each time by a student committee. BOX SUPPER At the beginning of the basketball season, it was decided that the teams should get new suits, In addition to contributions from each class, a box supper was held to help pay for the suits. A lunch was served by a 'committee of high school students, sponsored by Mrs. Glasser. Mr, and Mrs, Kelp provided the music for dancing which everyone enjoyed. We wish to thank the people of this community for helping to make it a success, SENIOR PICTURE DAY AND SKIP DAY The Senior Class of 1952, accompanied by their sponsor, Mr, S. W. Madison, went to Sioux City on October 3, to have their graduation pictures taken at Genelli Studio. They lunched together and then some of the class watched television, while the others went to a movie. Everyone had a grand time. The Seniors are looking forward to Skip Day, but a definite date has not been' set.
