Class Tree of 1952 Did you ever see the Class Tree of l952l ?' Well come take a look at it. It was planted and started growing on September 2, 194-0, The Board of Education chose Miss Irene Swanson as its first caretaker and by the end of the year, with much watering, trimming, and care it had nine small branches of which Janice Alton and Marian Pippitt were members of the 1952 graduating class, The next year, since Miss Swanson had resigned from the caretaking position, Geraldine Brinker assumed the responsibility, and although one branch dropped off, three new ones were gained, Soon the Tree of 1952 was three years old and although it was growing in strength it sprouted one new branch, partly replacing the two that had dropped off. During its fourth and fifth year the tree had Mrs, Lena Pippitt for a caretaker and though it was well cared for, only four branches survived, In its sixth year, with Gertrude Edmonds caring for it, the -'tree began to grow again gaining three new branches, among which was Anne McColley, who is one of the present graduation class, However, one was lost. As the tree continued to grow in strength during its seventh year, Mrs. Edmonds again cared for it, When it became' eight years of age, its size was increased by the addition of Bill Harl, Betty Wagner and Mrs, Harry Smith were its caretakers and helped to prepare it for the next four years, As it started its ninth year the Tree of 1952 had grown so well that now it needed extra caretakers, Superintendent E, B, Fritz, and his helpers, Principal Vada Glasser, Maude Olney, and John Rice, were chosen to nurture the tree of ten branches, who were Janice Alton, Donnie Bohall, Evelyn Carbaugh, Bill I-larl-, Dale Heistand, Anne McColley, Harry Mikkleson, George O'Day, Marian Pippitt, and Bonnie Towne. Again the caretakers were changed--this time with Superintendent C, W, Daniels, Principal Vada Glasser, Coach C. C, Zalonka, and M, D. Drake, For two years the tree grew, gaining three new branches, among which were Goldie Taylor, and Lonnie Hussing, but lost several, leaving it with only eight branches, The Tree of 1952 now twelve years old, found as its caretakers, Superintendent S, W. Madison, Principal Vada Glasser, who had been with it throughout the past four years, Coach W, T, Beasley and L, E. Lindstrom. The eight branches that still remain consisted of Janice Alton, Donnie Bohall, Bill Harl, Lonnie Hus sing, Anne McColley, Harry Mikkleson, Marian Pippitt, and Goldie Taylor, who were looking forward to graduation and a life of memories of the activities enjoyed in L.S.H.S.
