Presidents of Senior Home Rooms Have Colorful Personalities Eight girls and eight boys have had the honor of being president of their home rooms during their last term in high school. Their person- alities are varied and colorful and here are brief sketches of them. Betty Burke of home room 201 wants to be a writer and is already a Gazette reporter. Snoopy people are her pet hate, but she likes little dogs and tall boys that are not bash- ful. Her idea of this term's senior class it that it is too large. Nancy Dowell and Jane Hurst Nancy Dowell in home room 335 wishes to be a kindergarten teach- er. likes shrimp, and hates slow people. Collecting cactus is her un- usual hobby. Concerning the sen- ior class she thinks that there was a wide choice to fit the distinctions. Jane Hurst from home room 250 wants to join the diplomatic corps. Anything to eat appeals to her. she had no dislikes, and her sport is horseback riding. After graduating she hopes to enter Stevens. Mavncal McCoy and Mary Phillips Mayneal McCoy, home room 218, decided that writing for the Nation- al Geographic is her highest aim. People that say “guess who-' are her pet hate, collecting match fold- ers. her hobby, and swimming and tennis her sports. Her idea of the senior class is that it's the biggest and grandest yet. Mary Phillips in home room 115 is ambitious to get married, loves strawberry shortcake, and hates conceited people. She agrees with Mayneal in that the class is the biggest and grandest yet. Joyce Reid and Miriam Trickctt Joyce Reid, home room 233. has designing clothes for her ambition, likes to cook, ride, and swim, and hates cooked carrots. “Finding peo- ple to fit distinctions was hard this term”, she said. Miriam Trickctt from home room 240 plans to be an editor of a mag- azine. and as a hobby tries to win soap contests. Strawberries are her pet hate, likes to ride, and is editor of the Moviweekly. She said that there were many versatile people in the senior class. The boys of the class have decid- ed views of what they like and dis- like. Jim Briscoe, home room 247, has the profession of a dentist in view as his ambition. He likes to eat. swim, and dance: hates moochers. and collects picture post cards. While in LRHS he has won a track letter and thinks that this senior class has the best president that a class has had for a long time. Clyde Campbell and Matt Jones Clyde Campbell of home room 114 wants to be like Tarzan” and pre- fers pretty girls and swimming. Dancing is his hobby while his pet hate is girls that smoke. Matt Jones, of home room 147, is ambitious to be a chemical engineer, collects match folders, and is fond of sports. As many of the other boys, his pet hate is conceited girls. Robert McNeely and John Strccpy Robert McNeely. home room 304. is ambitious to be a first class sales- man. likes to drive a car. but doesn't like conceited girls. His favorite’ sport is swimming and he plans to get a good business education. John Streepy from home room 238 has ambition to be a flyer, and plans to attend Columbia. He especially likes “cokes”, but hates to see a girl smoke. Collecting stamps is his hob- by and softball is his favorite sport. This senior class is the best yet in his opinion. Herbert Thomas And Clark Fisher Herbert Thomas in home room 204 plans to be an insurance execu- tive an to attend Warton's School of Finance and Commerce. He likes to collect free samples of anything and to play tennis, basketball, or golf. As another honor for his sen- ior year he was elected vice presi- dent of the National Honor Society. Conceited girls are his pet hate also. Clark Fisher, from home room 2. hopes to be a linotype operator and is now foreman of the print shop. Girls come first among his pet hates and eating and fishing as his special likes. Baseball and printing are his hobbies. Edna Szurgot. President Of Cosmetology Class Edna Szurgot, who has had the honor of being president of the cosmetology class during her last term in high school, is of medium height, with brown hair and brown eyes. As a hobby she dances, but when it comes to sports, her favor- ite is swimming. After Edna grad- uates she plans to apply to the state board and begin practicing cosmetology.
