V . fin- --,ag SENIOR CLASS HISTORY enrollment of thirty ive A few weeks after school had commenced we held a class meeting and elected our oflicers After much debating we selected our colors flower and motto Miss Miars was chosen as the sponsor to guide us through the year Many parties and picnics were enjoyed during the year That we were very active was shown by our representation on both boys and girls basketball teams also by our help in making the operetta Cherry Blossoms a success At the close of school we bade our classmates goodbye and were all looking forward to our reunion to the place the following autumn Upon arriving at school on the 'drst day of our Sophomore year we were grieved to learn that many of our members had deserted u at the Hrst part We now numbered twenty six New oilicers were elected and our old sponsor rechosen for our second year This year our class was pleased to welcome two new members to our happy throng These were Allene Roper of Zanesville and Frederick Hofer of Blanchester This year the girls captain as well as several players for both basketball teams were chosen from our group On the opening day of our Junior year we learned that five more members of our class had fallen by the wayside leaving twenty one on the class roll Miss Hoppe was selected as sponsor for the third year This was by far the busiest year of our High School life. Besides our basketball and other activities such as the operetta In Old Louisana for which we furnished many of the characters which made it an out standing feature of the year we were engaged in the business of obtaining money with which to entertain the senior class at a banquet. Everyone assured us that our crowning fete of the year the Junior Senior banquet was a great success. At the end of this year s work we welcomed the vacation which would rest us for our fourth and inal year. The last year started with but eighteen members sixteen being of the original class. This year our sponsor was Mr. Porter. Again we were called upon for players on the basketball teams and for characters for the third operetta, Sunbonnet Sue. We decided to issue an annual, Morrownian Memoirs. The staff was chosen and everyone became busily engaged. Many Senior parties and also the JuniorfSenior banquet. were greatly enjoyed. At last Graduation Day dawned-a day of mingled joy and sadness as we were all sorry to see the old class separated, each to follow his own path in life. ' 7 1222 Morrownian Memoirs I! S ' IQ? -ny vs - - 5.1.5 '.- ilu 5' M J CLASS PROPHECY N arriving in New York on the Island Queen from a two years tour around the world and a long and extended visit to the jungles of Africa I decided to spend the night at the Biltmore On entering the famous hotel I was very much surprised to Gnd our old class artist Eugene Kelsey manager having obtained his start as bell hop in the old picturesque Charles Hotel of Morrow Dehghted with the prospect of being together again we planned to have dinner surp ised when a small rather heavy set man came up and called us by our names At last it dawned upon me that we were facing our old Swede Fred Hofer He introduced his head waitress Ruby Glancy who told us of her forthcoming marriage and that her future home would be in Roachester For the remamder of the evening s enyoyment we decided upon the Metropolitan Opera House Here too we received a shock when we found Allene Roper and Gladys Tudor starring in their first world famous program I felt a thrill of delight when my thoughts reverted to the operettas of my High School days with Gladys as the leading lady and Allene at the piano Unfortunately upon returning to our hotel we broke the speed limit and I was forced to report to the traiiic court the next morning After arriving I gazed at the Judge in amazement because I remembered the ring upon his finger He was our old lawyer John Stull But he let me off easy so I planned to go sight seeing Upon visiting the slums I found Evelyn Lehr making little people happy by playing her violin As I entered Broadway upon my return home I found a large crowd celebrating the tenth anniversary of Lindy s flight As an army d1v1s1on passed by I recognized the general as Robert Burton who was looking forward to an on coming war I had already spent my limited time in New York therefore I took an airplane to Buffalo. Immediately I recognized the pilot as Gerald Mengle who always boasted that he would be the class bachelor but he had broken the record a year after graduation. I then took a boat to Detroit and to my amazement I recognized the tall stately figure of our side center Eunice Ayers as Captain and Sadie Lilley as her assistant. To pass the time I visited the Ford plant where I found John Hill who had just completed an invention modeled from the parts of his old Ford. I was not a little surprised when I was told that Hallie Whitacre was making a tour of the United States lecturing on The Ways and Means of a Happy Home. After this I took a fast train to Cincinnati. The train was wrecked and I became unconscious but upon awakening I looked into the smiling eyes of Olive Slade who was now a nurse at Christ Hospital. In a few hours I was on my way home. Three miles out of Morrow I saw a small house with green shutters. To make the picture clearer flocks of poultry were here and there. Upon entering the house I found Zelia Corwin and her husband. I arrived in Morrow at night but my Erst thoughts were of my Alma Mater so I set forth upon my destination. As I approached I saw a light in the gym where six green and gold clad figures, under the eiiicient guidance of their coach, Edna Whitacre, were fighting their way to victory over an old opponent. The next morning I dressed in haste and set forth to End the last of my school' mates, Reba Coe. After much inquiry and searching I found her living in a beautiful home well upon the road to a peaceful, matrimonial life. At last I had seen them all-the schoolmates of my High School days-the best days of my life-the ones that I had loved best. But now I must go. -Rhoda M.
