SCJPHOM ORES PERCEIVE WITH WIDER SCOPE Blue emblems show another year has begun towards attaining the goal of graduation-another year nearer the completion of the masterpiece. The roster, designed to widen the scope ot knowledge, no longer is a puzzle to the more experienced mind. The mademoiselle of French ll must also study the complicated theorems of geometry. Along with subiects continued from freshman year, sopho- more art challenges her creativeness. Above all, Church History enriches her appreciation of the contributions of Christianity in all fields of human achievement. GOING FISHING?-No, it's iust M. Quinn and D. Milewska cleaning the fish tank. The turtle which P. Kelly is observing breaks no speed record, while J. Hedmond satisfies Mr. Rubbit's ravenous appetite. Weighing hamsters presents no problem to M. THE CANVAS or CLASSICS HELD BEFORE THEM The sophomore has progressed beyond the elementary brush strokes to the canvas. She is inspired by the master, Shakespeare, as she enacts The Merchant of Venice. The microscopic spirogyra and pleurococci of the biology lab excite her imagination and arouse her curiosity to the wonders of new worlds, and every sophomore is familiar with the strained muscles and sore ligaments accompany- ing each gym period. But, most important of all is the coordination of ideas and actions which is attained in this, her second year of artistic apprenticeship. ANGLE-AREA-CIRCLE are familiar terms in General Mathe- matics. Here M. Stazsko, M. Reed. E. Rossi, and M. A. Kurhan explain the importance of geometric figures. O IS THE POINT OF INTERSECTION of the lines AB and CD. This step in a proof is explained to geometry students by M. Krzeminski and M. Smart. THE QUALITY OF MERCY IS NOT STRAINED.
