Since the school is a family of at larger growth, an interrelationship exists he tween the home and the school. The wedded force of these two units, strengthened by love for Christ and fellow- fiaeiti, can help lift the world from the darkness of its pres- ent turmoil to the light of lasting pence. We, typicalhigh- school teen-agers, leave home and family each morning to enter Little Flower Catholic High School, where, as stu- dents, we become members of a vast family, of girls, teachers, and business associates-a family of families! Together, we pray, work, and play! With active in- terest, our parents follow our every curricular and ex- tracurricular activity, thus strengthening the bond that links the home with the school. Through the inter- loclced links of the home and the school, we present the K in - , Q 1948 story of THE FAMILY AT LITTLE FLCWER. it QQ: f , --4 ,-I Q ' ' W Q he -QS i 4, A 41- 'Qt Q. ii I ix it 'Q lost' Q, kqq ' ei-is t'7.ff4'fW.e l ' i :XV A+ Q A K e ' N- I 'sq iw ili i' .i +iii,'l?'i1'1i-'dtiiw 'Ap' 'I'-'vi' fins ,,. Our student council, comprising 27 senior, 22 junior, and 12 sophomore councillors, keeps order in the halls and on stairways at change-of-class time and sees that school regulations are executed. Representatives, comprising one from each of the 59 homeroom sec- tions, assisted by their associate representatives, di- rectly represent the student body in the Student Government Association. The jury, 15 members elected by the students, hear the cases of students brought before the student court. Locker officials, cafeteria aides, and personnel aides through their spe- cial respective duties help maintain a smooth running government. Thus the faculty, student oflicers, and student body, as one, work to achieve discipline and harmony in our Little Flower family. The student council turn toward their five leaders! VVhat lovelier tribute could be paid to Our Lady than the dedication of our seventh annual hlusic Festival, which was held the week of February 23? lVe shall long remember the breathtaking finale that climaxed a never- to-be-forgotten evening of superb musical entertainment. Gowned in vari-colored pastel gowns, the glee club, directed by Dr. Jeno Donath, sang songs of today and yesterday and immediately captured the hearts of their audience. This har- mony of 109 voices began their selections with RachmaninolT's immortal Creation Hymn. Soon, eager voices were lilting through the romantic lyrics of Jerome Kern, the memorable southern melody, Jla Curly-lzzfrzdea' Baby, and the modern bal- lad, The Serenarle of the Bells. Soothing strains of Phedre commenced the orchestral renditions. This was followed by 7l0t'l'IIffl, a stirring composition written in the seventeenth century. lngenious strains leapt from the violin of our concert- meister Ann McCauley as she led the group of 121 in the sweet. harmonious Slzzlbffrtizzmz. As a surprising deviation, the orchestra played Alfred Newman's Street Scene and terminated its program with melodies from well known operas, arranged by Dr. Donath. Our 19-l-8 lylusic Festival was concluded by the combination of orchestra and glee club in a dramatic finale. Our Lady of Fatima. fan' -' 'sii ff' . . --f . ..--ns. .,- 5. V L-'J wx, 4. PM A 1 f-1 .
