Latin, the source of all romantic languages, stands in high esteem at Little Flower. The four-year course offers to students the opportunity of meeting Cicero, Caesar, Vergil, Ovid. German, the basic source of the English tongue, has a growing mo- mentum of interest among the lan- guage-minded students. ln addition to learning to speak, write and read German, pupils delve into the folk songs and literature of Germany. The routine grind of vocabulary and syntax drills, necessary to the mastery of any language, is moti- vated in Latin and German classes by dramatizations and plays. The Latin Club delights those present at the Latin Rally with their entertaining play vivifying Greek mythology. Explaining a map of Der Deutschland, Sister Juventia, M.S.C., commands the interested attention of her students. These girls are eager to hear about the country whose language they are learning to speak, read, and write. IN MEMORIAM Sister Mary Celestis, M.S.C., a member of the original faculty at Little Flower, was called before the throne of God on january 17, 1947. However, her memory lingers in the school wherein she unselfishly gave eight years of her time and energy. For six years, she molded hearts and minds to God through the teaching of religiong for the last two years, she helped students acquire fluency in German. Her missionary zeal will long live in the hearts and minds of the students she taught so well and counseled so wisely.
