llllllllll-IS lll CHURCHES.. SIIHIIIHS.. HIS EMINENCE. DENNIS CARDINAL DOUGHERTY, D.D. Archbishop of Philadelphia The amazing growth of Catholic schools in the archdiocese of Philadelphia is due in the fullest measure to the untiring work, the warm encouragement, and the keen foresight of his Eminence, Dennis Cardinal Dougherty, D.D., Archbishop of Philadelphia. Under his noteworthy influence, our diocesan schools have advanced to the dis- tinction of having been given nation-wide acclaim and honor. Be- sides heing active in Catholic education and in youth movements, he endeavors to further the work of the Catholic press. He is the president of The Cailmlic Sfmzflarzl and Tfznes, the official newspaper of the archdiocese. This Catholic weekly interprets, in the light of fatholic teaching, the current news of our time and endeavors hy means of its news and literary columns to establish a stronghold of Catholic literature in the hearts and minds of all Catholics. Thus, it may truthfully he said that this eminent prelate is one of the most outstanding educators of this age, an age in which education huilt upon the strong foundation of truth is of profound importance.
