Youth of today, realizes' the importance of mathematics oflcred in their school' curriculum. They face a future of streamlining, time-saving. and precision. To meet the clamor for proficient inathematicians. students are given a mathematical foundation hy the required basic algebra l and geometry in freshman and sophomore years, respectively. fllany .desirous of furthering this knowledge go on to major in ulgehra ll. trigonometry, and solid geometry, thus com- pleting a four-year cycle. A course in mathematics not only henelits those interested in utilizing it in their future but also provides a grindstone for sharpening the mind.

if Q41 -acr- We converse in Spanish, boast these students of Span ish I Each girl tells m Spanish the story of her picture in any language a story is always entertaining Our international relationships today more than ever are in urgent need of strengthening. In our future scientihc world it will be necessary for to- day's youth to negotiate successfully with fellow- men. A most opportune place to cultivate friendlv feeling toward our neighbor is provided by languagf classes. The study of Spanish and French afford Little Flowerites ample opportunity to observe the practices of these two nations and to adopt their languages. 'lihus by assimilation of such knowledge into young minds, a perpetual readiness to increase friendly negotiations is established. Then. by studying these two languages, Little Flovverites travel to all parts of the globe. Their feet tread on strange lands which become more familiar as the study of the language advances. This truly will prove a great future aid in building friendly alliances with nations-a step toward world peace. An exchange of ideas through pen-pals in France helps to stimulate interest in this French IV class. Elizabeth Morris, Mary Collins, and Regina Casey listen to Adrienne Early Cseatedj translate her message while fright, Pa- tricia Sauer, Genevieve Krout, and Joan de Marteliere check vocabulary for the letter that they are composing.
