While Little Flowerites rejoice at this heralding of a tomorrow of peace, we also realize that we have a part to play in helping to make that peace a lasting one. Under the guidance of competent teachers are developed those social, intellectual, and physical habits that foster intelligent participation in domestic and civic affairs. Wforking congenially and generously for and with others promotes good citizenship. Thus, through education based on Christian principles Little Flowerites see a pattern for establishing and maintaining a permanent and just peace for all peoples after victory. , - CONTENTS PAGE PEACE THROUGH EDUCATION .. .. 4-33 PEACE 'THROUGH ACTIVITIES ..... . .. 34-65 PEACE THROUGH VUOMANHOOD .. .... 66-128 . , LW: A e J. r . ,, 3 5' 54 'Zi ti, - ,1-t qggnjizi The Reverend Joseph A. A A var-,Q x . 4, 6 . c I ESSIVI SIIPS IN SIAHINB IIUH UHIIH The story of music at Little Flower is interesting though technical. From the time a freshman-to-be be- gins her training the summer previous to her entrance at Little Flower to the time of her debut into the band or orchestra, her music education is full of minute details which, when taken collectively, make for musi- cal perfection. Her lirst audition decides whether or not she has the basic requirementsg successive analy- tical auditions determine the instrument for which she is best suited. Then begins her special intensified train- ing, which includes private lessons under the tutorship of a teacher sltilled in that particular instrument, super- vised practice periods, and section ensembles. After a student has reached the requirements, she is given a special audition which decides whether or not she is ready for membership in the band and orchestra. The experiences into which students of music are ushered develop habits and characteristics that prove beneficial throughout life. In the music library! Is there a question on your lips? Here the music scores for the various instruments are bound, catalogued, and filed. The work is executed by Jean Marie Scanlon, jacqueline A. Bechtold and Terese E. O'Donnell. Practice, practice, and more practice! says Eleanor Wolf's violin. This refrain is repeated by the 42 violins of the symphonic orchestra. Practice makes for perfection, and that is the goal of all the music students at Little Flower. The shining instruments that gleam from the orchestra and band are the result of much rubbing and polishing on the part of their industrious owners. Music students engage in the art of domestic science as well as in the fine arts. 'E , Y , , S W A ,Q , ' '51 ,, Patricia T. loner '45 Harp Mary c. mu. '45 Tvmvmi Marie T.
