Do you ask what is riveting our attention during this particular activity period? Well, it is Friday which means that Father Lynch is holding us in the grip of his inspiring religious instruction. This is broadcast throughout the building. From lockers we homeroom-ward go! Enroute we enjoy the priv- ilege of chatting with classmates without impeding traffic, for we walk while we talk. Keep in two'sg keep moving are the rules for movement along our two-way-traffic corridors. Silence is golden! A place for everything and everything in its place! These are the locker mottoes of Little Flow- erites. Joan Koser, a locker official, is at her post to see that these regulations are faithfully executed by all. 2 rf . Here in our building, our world of education, we have spots which have become cynosures of attention. From the aurora of the school day until mid- afternoon. these popular points of all-student interest, are thronged. These spotlights of at- traction seem to have a magnetic power over Little Flowerites. Here's a beaconlight at Little Flower -The St. Therese chapel on the first floor! Here. hundreds of visits are made daily as faculty members and students pay homage to the Great Teacher Who reigns in their midst. 0llR Glllll The Right Reverend Monsignor john D.D., LL.D. Superintendent of Schools An important chapter is added to our story of the year by Monsignor Bonner. From the time that our school was a sketch on paper, he has identified himself with our interests. His leadership has helped us scale great heights in a few years. ig V l ,f vfixffk 1 , 4 -.Q eff mes, 2 , The Reverend joseph A. Gorham, S.T.l.. The Reverend Edward M. Reilly. j.C.D. SEPTEIIIBER CIILLS . Initiation into the realm of rosters! Puzzled freshmen scan their schedules for their first trip through the year at Little Flower. Though complicated looking, these tick- ets give promise of a pleasant, interest-absorbing time. Between-class-minutes tick in relaxation, particularly during the opening days, for then old friends meet and there's much to tell. However, double line, two-way stair traffic rules for stairway travel is strictly executed. First days find freshmen in a maze, especially when they find themselves almost alone in the corridors and doors closed. Mary Jane McCatferty feels certain she has found the right room, while Joan Umstetter cautiously roster checks. 311 Ufiii J? NR NM Our armed forces are well taken care of when staff members handle personally the mailing of Garlands, for those brothers, cousins, and friends of Little Flowerites. BEIIIIID THIS ISSUE Distinguished senior editors find pleasure in collaborating on definite pictures to Fit those original layouts. Satisfaction beams when an agreement is reached. What high rating The Garland merits be- cause the art staff has for its watch- word: Ability plus effort plus efficiency. Garland contributors who back the liter- ary staff radiate contentment when they see their literary accomplishments in print. Production would be impossible without the capable cooperation of The Garland typists, who give hours of time and ener- gy to the service of the school publica- tion! QA This is the fourth hlossom in the literary Garland which we lay at the feet of our heloved St. Therese, From the shower of roses she has let fall, we have gathered the fragrant petals of happy memories, VVhen some flowers are pressed to preserve sweet memories, in time their color fades, their petals he' come as brittle as aged parchment, and the precious details connected with them wander into ohlivion. But lvetween the covers of The Gtu-land lies our favorite flower, memories of high school years. Our Garland is not composed of Cinderella flowers that wilt after the witching hourz it is the glass slipper ot enchantment that will remain forever. Staff members from the junior class set the pace for underclassmen. Work is an incentive for en- thusiasm. This looks like a busy hour but in reality it is usual routine for active and experienced editors. Initiation into various types of activity begins early in freshman year in order to build an efficient future staff. Layouts is the subject of this day's work.
