On Sunday afternoon, lvlay 21, 1939, His Eminence was present at the flag raising ceremony which preceded the laying of the cornerstone of the almost completed huilding. This was it great event for Philzidelphians, and to show their appreciation more than three thousand people gathered on the premises. Our Cardinal, accompanied hy lvlonsignor john Bonner, D.D., LL.D., Superintendent of Diocesan HHSTHHHHLS Schools, was greeted hy the colorful hands of john W. Half lahan and West Philadelphia Catholic Cirls' High Schools. A chosen group from sang the hymns during inony Reverend joseph A. Gorham, STL., As ml schools, attended addressed the group as the glee cluhs of these two schools hcncdiction. At this important eeref G. Cox, j.C.D., and Reverend joseph sistant Superintendents of our parochf the Cardinal. lvlonsignor Bonner semhlcd for the occasion. lt was not until August 27, 1939, that the huilding was formally opened for inspection. On this afternoon, the huildf ing was dedicated hy His Excellency, the Most Reverend Hugh L. Lamh, D.D.V.G., Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia, and the exercises were concluded with solemn Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. His Eminence, Dennis Cardinal Dougherty, on his arrival for the cornerstone laying at Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls is greeted by Reverend Joseph M. Corr. The combined Bands of the two diocesan girls' high schools lend gaiety to the occasion. For the singing at this important event, selected groups from the Glee Clubs of both schools were chosen. His Eminence lays the cornerstone. His Excellency, Hugh L. Lamb, Bishop of Philadelphia, gives Bene- diction following the dedication of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls.
