It is an informal meeting of students who are interested in de- voting a little extra free time to investigate the field of science. During the two hour meetings, once a month, the members work on projects of their choice. This time is especially useful for working on projects for the March Science Fair. The main service project of the club is supplying students to present demonstrations to students in the elementary school. 4t 7 TN: 9 Ngl'l umwww r; L I n 1H W V n; d , 1 u A W 1 n; 66 Kittistmas 60mm groups FIRST ROW: Larry Larson, Herb Como, Paula Kick, Donna Konrad. The cast included stu- dents from the entire senior high school. Old Caleb Jones introduced us to the play with a prologue that flashed back to the people buried in Old Boot Hill Cemetery near Tombstone, Arizona, a long time ago. From there a story of the present evolved, and the old Jude ranch remained with its rightful owners ahanks to Old Calebt despite the villainous attempts of the villians to have it otherwise. We remember most of all how the ghosts of the past came back and took Old Caleb, the last of the old desert rats, with them. Thus, we saw The Ghosts Go West - and heard the chant of the ghosts -- Dead. . . vanished . . . Lost forever in the drifting, shifting sands of the desert. . . Forever lost in the turning and tumbling stars of the night. At the Region VI festival at Alexandria, January 25, it won an A- minus rating. The Hardouin Claw, vice-like clutch oi old Jean Marie Hardouin, had become legendary in the community since Jean Marie had become paralyzed and mute. However, his eyes missed nothing, including the goings-on of his daughter-in-law Rose and her lover. When opportunity came to rid herself of her husband Pierre, she did not reckon with the super-human effort of old Jean Marie as he brought the fateful claw into action to avenge the death of his son Pierre. Marcia Valesano won the outstanding actress award at the District festival, and Bruce Aus- tin was cited as the outstanding supporting role character at the regional level. The Hardouin Claw' people used to call it. And don't touch the barrels at the back. While Pierre's away . . . . You old devil you! 75 FIRST ROW: J. Salitros, G. Sappington, A. Olson, J. Templeton, J. I shall always remember the fun of pep fests, the bounciness of the cheerleaders, the good feeling after our boys won a game. I shall enjoy thinking about the fun of being a ghost in one play and a wolf in another, the excitement of preparing for homecoming, or the rush to be first in the lunch line in contrast to the quietness of a class doing a test. It has been a real joy living in an American home and being accepted as a member of an American family. Not many people are able to claim a second family as I am. After meet- ing so many of your parents and their fellow townspeople, I know that for my part the idea of AFS to increase understanding has been fulfilled. I have admiration and respect for all my American teachers, whose guidance and interest I have valued greatly. I hope to return to my home-of-one-year to see you all. dwawffwe 95 96 1965 . . . as each one of us is seated during the Commencement exercises, our minds begin to wander into the past . . . Memories of our freshman year drift swiftly by . . . John Glenn became the first American to orbit the earth that year. Telstar, a first in communications, was put into space. And the ? twist went to the top in popularity. Becoming sophomores presented problems to all of us; it was our first year in the new senior high school, and we all had some trouble with fitting into the new surroundings. That was the year Mario Gutierrez was our exchange student from Costa Rica; he helped add sparkle to'our first year in the new school. Mr. Jacob Sawyer came to Little Falls from Ghana to observe our school system and American educational methods. And the famous St. John's Men's Chorus presented a concert for us. Yes, that was a great year . . . The Commencement speaker continues with his speech, but fit our minds cannot help slipping quietly into the past again . . . .g. Recalling our junior year, we remember the impressive M... uws-aww v accomplishments of the purple and gold athletic teams; tttttttt M H the football team played to a 6-1-1 season, and the track team broke several school records and took the JC Invita- tional crown for the first time. David Sato came to us g from Japan that year and became everyone's friend. Our Homecoming float took first prize in the judging. Dan Shimek was elected to Boys' State. Tragedy hit that year as the nation lost a great man in President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. His assassination made Lyndon Johnson the Presi- dent. IT'S A GREAT LIFE turned out to be just that! Who k 5 ever thought that Jeannie: would marry Doc Appleby at the i i ' end? We also took part in THE RED MILL, which had even the stoutest heart laughing at one time or another. And we certainly cannot forget how the Beatles stormed LFSHS, the United States, and even the world with I want to Hold Your Hand. We even had our own Beatles. H Then our senior year, which at one time seemed so far away, arrived. We exchanged pictures, sported our rings, and began to make plans for the future. We all enjoyed becoming acquainted with Sue Hogge, who brought a de- lightful English accent with her from Basutoland, South Africa. Judy Holst reigned over the Homecoming cere- monies, which included the hilarious skit, That Was The Night That Was. Z 0 u r V c a r Politics became the topic as the election approached. Both in our school and in the nation, Lyndon Johnson won over Barry Goldwater by a landslide. The nation was saddened by the deaths of ex-President Herbert Hoover and the great British Statesman, Sir Winston Churchill. IHE GHOSTS GO WEST, the school's first all school play was tremendous . . . the phantoms had everyone sitting on the edge of his chair, and Gary's courageous antics had everyone rolling in the aisles! Mr. Martin and Miss Monroe were certainly surprised when they were presented the trophy! Burgundy became the Color fad of the year. The Claw, our one-act play, took first place in the district. The talent show was a great success. And then everything happened so quickly. Our last spring formal, skip day, our party, Baccalaureate . . . and now . . . Commencement. The time has come . . . we walk up for our diplomas . . . we leave - the 1965 graduates of LFSHS.
