LITCHFIELD HIGH SCHOOL LITCHFIELD, NEBRASKA TABLE OF CONTENTS ORGANIZATIONS P. 53 WE THE SENIORS OF 1978 WISH TO DEDICATE THIS ANNUAL TO ALL THE INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE IN OUR LIVES MARTY ALBRECHT 1 can resist anything but temptation. s E N I 0 R S CRAIG FREAD LA VON FIELDGROVE Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today, because if you like it today you can always do it again to- morrow. DOTTIE FREAD 1 like wine, women, and cars, but not necessarily in that order. A day without laughter is a day with- out sunshine. 4 BRENT EMMA HOWARD HOWARD I have as much patience as everyone, 1 just don't practice it as much. 1 can's understand why it takes me an hour to get home ... it's not that far away. BERNADETTE SCOT KROTZ KIEBORZ Never do today what you can avoid al- together ! I never knew what homework was until 1 got into highschool, and 1 still don't! 5 DANNY LEWANDOWSKI The two greatest words in the English language are ' 'I Can.1' CARL KUCERA When I work, 1 work hard, when I sit, 1 sit loose, when 1 think, 1 fall asleep. LISA LEWIS JERRY LUCAS Resisting temptation is easier when 1 was bom to Boogie, so here 1 am. you think you'll probably get another chance later on. 6 IKE MASON CAROL NORDEN The gal who thinks no man is good enough for her may be right but she is more often left! It is difficult to say what is impossi- ble , for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of to- morrow. — Robert H. Goddard KAREN JOE SEKUTERA RIESSLAND Girls are like streetcars. If you miss one, another will come along. After all, it's only a weed that turns into a flower in your mind. 7 GREG SIEGEL BRIAN SLOCUM Whenever I feel like working, 1 lay down until the feeling goes away. It isn't what you do, it's what you get away with. BRENDA UNICK DIANE WARDYN It will do no good to get on the right track if you then go the wrong direc- tion. Smile, it'll make people wonder what you've been up to. 8 JOHN WILLOUGHBY Ask not what your school can do for you, but what you can do for your school. LINDA WOOLERY I've changed my mind, but it still doesn't work any better! I, Diane Wardyn, will to the sophomore class ' 'Peanut Butter''. May it someday be able to go over 65. I, Emma Howard, will to Jean Wardyn, my ability to chew gum and not get caught in Mrs. Bergmeier's class! I, Brent Howard, will my ability to play football to Randy Lucas he'll need it! I, Bemie Kieborz, will to the sophomore girls my ability to beat up on the lower classmen. It's great fun try it! I, Karen Riessland, will my bright eyes to Snide they might come in handy some night! I, Marty Albrecht, will all my women troubles to Mike Toby. He needs them! I also will what's left of Old Blue to Amy. I, Danny Lewandowski, will my driving ability to David Kwaitkowski. Keep it in the Polish family Dave, that's an ethnic ability. I, Joe Sekutera, will my ability not to get caught by Wilbur to Darrell Schall. At the rate he's going, he'll need it! I, Jerry Lucas, will my ability to do anything I want to the Lucas boys because they'll probably get blamed for it anyway! I, Gregory Siegel, don't will anything to anyone. I'm taking it all with me ! I, Carl Kucera, will my ability to run forward instead of sideways to Mike Toby. In football it helps. I, Lisa Lewis, will my tenor voice to Rick Hoover. Then maybe he won't be afraid to sing. I, Dottie Fread, will 2 inches of my height to Loma Rolfsmeyer. It's fun to be able to see into the top lockers. I, LaVon Fieldgrove, will my ability to stay quiet, what's left of it, to who ever needs it. I, Carol Norden, will my job in the lunchroom to anyone who likes good food as much as I do. I, Linda Woolery, will my ability to always get the top locker to Jill Sweley. All you need is a box to get up there! I, Brian Slocum, will all my empty KEY cans to Mr. Epley. Use them in good taste, Mr. Epley! ! I, Scot Krotz, will 2 years of empty English notebooks to Mrs. Brewer. I, Craig Fread, will my accident insurance policy to Mr. Streit. He may need it! I, Brenda Unick, will my ability to type faster than I drive to Rick Hoover. I, John Willoughby, will my ability to stay out of trouble and in school to Brad Tesmer. I, Ike Mason, will my black '61 Plymouth to Monte Woolery. We, the Seniors of 1978 will to the Freshman the ability to beat up on the Freshman when they are seniors. We will to the Sophomores the ability to rule the school for the next two years. We will to the Junior boys our athletic ability. They need all the help they can get. To the Junior girls we will the ability to take whatever they can get from the Sophomore girls. To the Litchfield High School, we will all of our left-over Senior pictures so they will always remember us as the great people we are. 9 Hello. I'm Marty Albrecht. In the last 10 years in my travels around the country looking for a suitable job, 1 happened to run into my Litchfield classmates. In California I heard about some crazy guy jumping 22 motorcycles with a Mack truck, so couldn't miss seeing it. To my surprise that turned out to be Danny Lewandowski. Was glad to see he came out of that jump alright as he only cleared 21 bikes. Just by chance the 22nd bike was Joe Seku- tera's. Joe had loaned it to Danny, expecting it to be the first bike in the row. Found out that Joe has started his own motorcycle club. He says the qualifications are very simple to join. All you need is a motorcycle and to be female! Well, guess I won't be joining his club, so will continue my job hunting. Better get to my interview at the drag races. They need a timer and I'm always on time. The first race of the day is ready to begin, surely that couldn't be Craig Fread driving in it. Last time I saw him he was practicing his speed shifting in the good old shop at L.H.S. Guess he's known as ' 'Crazy Craig'' on the race circuit. I know that's Craig, he still squeals his tires the same way! While talking to Craig found out he gets all his cars from ' 'Honest Ike's Cars''. Ike Mason runs a junk car lot. He said since he drove them all through high school he can hardly give them up now. Since I'm near Hollywood, so good-looking and talented think I'll try out for the star role in the big upcoming movie. Heard Bemie Kieborz is a big star, so maybe she'll put in a good word for me. Guess she's pretty famous working as Raquel Welch's stunt person. Was good talking with her, but she couldn't give me any pointers or leads to stardom. Better catch my flight to the east coast. Heard there are plenty of job openings. That can't be Karen Riessland on my same flight. I'll be darned, she's head stewardess on this 747. Karen says she likes this active life and espe- cially flying. Now that we've landed I'll have to look up John Willoughby. I found him in an Ivy League University busily involved in his research into the argumentive behavior of cuckoo birds. 1 really doubt if there's any job openings in this field. Just as 1 was leaving the university 1 saw Linda Woolery sitting on a park bench soaking up the sunshine. Stopped to say hello, but it was a one-sided conversation. She was busy practicing her alphabet, in sign language. The only thing I really understood was when she waved good-bye. It's about time to head back to Litch- field, but first I'd better get a haircut. I stopped at the first place I saw. It was Krotz's Kut and to my surprise it was no one but Scot Krotz. As he was styling my hair he said he'd be moving to Mexico, to start a prosperous greenhouse business where he'll be using his cutting talents on the plants. Finally got started back for Nebraska, stopped in Omaha to pick up an IBM typewriter for all my letters of appli- cation. Couldn't believe it was Carol Norden who gave me a demonstration. She is one of the world's fastest typ- ers. Heard she can type up to 3,000 mistakes per minute. Decided to head up to the Sandhills to see Greg Siegel. He's one of the biggest land owners with close to 200,000 acres. Greg was telling how busy he's been trying to find his 50 head of cattle on all that land. He mentioned he found only 3 head this morning. As I was leaving Greg's ranch I noticed a couple of horseback riders moving about 47 head of cattle. Thought I'd check this out and was astonished to see Dottie Fread and LaVon Fieldgrove on horseback. They said they've been rounding up these wild cows, selling them at market and buying brood mares for their horse ranch. Thought I'd just keep moving back toward Litchfield. I stopped in Broken Bow to have something cool to drink, and ran into no one other than the psychiatrist, Diane Wardyn. After analyzing herself she says she's doing a fine job and really enjoys her work and by the way was I in- terested in buying some pigs? I quickly changed the subject and asked whatever happened to Jerry Lucas. She told me that Jerry is now a politician. When he heard they had joint sessions in Congress he immediately ran for office. As 1 was leaving Broken Bow I happened to look toward the Cottonwood Lane nursing home. I really felt sorry for a woman about my age in a wheelchair. As I got closer I was shocked to see Emma Howard. She had borrowed a pa- tient's chair and was doing wheelies on the sidewalk. 1 kept driving toward Litchfield. Just outside of town I saw Brenda Unick. Thought I'd drop in for a cup of coffee but she didn't have much time to visit. As I was leaving 1 noticed her busily hanging out diapers on the clothesline. She did tell me that Brent How- ard was playing football with the Kansas City Royals. During the off-seasons Brent has a job of stacking the astro- turf. I saw Brian Slocum out raking up his tobacco harvest. He is connected with the Red Man Chewing Tobacco Com- pany. He says his biggest customer is our old principal, Mr. Swanson. Carl Kucera is the new superintendent at L.H.S. After a couple of days in the office he decided that was an easy way to make a living, so now he's working parttime on some hog farm near Broken Bow. When 1 finally reached home I decided to relax and watch the Johnny Carson show. I was really amazed when I saw Lisa Lewis with her trumpet in place of Ole' Doc. Actually she's pretty good, she's always been a little windy. Guess I'd better get busy and apply for some more high paying, low working jobs. Catch you at our 20th reunion. After a 9 - 5 record in 1976 with most of the girls back for another year the Trojan girls volleyball team entered the season with high hopes of a real good season. But because of unforseen injuries and a tougher schedule, the Trojan girls could only muster a 7-8 record for 1977. The team was led in scoring and spiking by Karen Riessland with 81 points and 95 spikes, Melody Wilson led in setting with 70 and Mary Jane Adams had 13 blocks. With a group of 6 lettermen back and a lot of ex- perience , the girls are confident of bettering their 3rd place finish in the L.V.C. next year. The 1977-1978 Girls Basketball Season had many high nd low points. The high point had to be the most points scored in a game (72), and the low point was the defeat in the first round of the Loup Valley Con- ference. Overall, the season ended on a 5-8 record with many prospects and 9 returning lettermen ready for the 1978-1979 campaign. 40 I made it! Let me play, Joan. Oh my!
