Debate The school year of 72-73 was a very rewarding year for debate at Litchfield. In its first full year, our high school was very fortunate to make a home for a glittering first place trophy. Winning the first place trophy was Janet Willoughby and Connie Sinkler. Three other gentle- men participated in our debate pro- gram too. They were Darwin Fread, George Reitz, and Brent Wilson. Other minor speaker and team awards were won by the different teams. The season was especially grati- fying to coach Robert Smith because of the competition his teams were up against. Litchfield competed against teams from Classes A, B, and C. Hare work in the form of constant practice and research reaped dividends for the Trojans. These students also gave up numerous Saturdays to participate. Congratulations for a job well done. KEARNEY CLINIC FIRST NATIONAL BANK Litchfield's L-club did a great deal of hustling in order to deliver their fruit sales this year. The L-club sold a truck-load of citrus fruit from Texas to the community to raise money to help buy a clock for the football field. They plan on buying a film projector with the remaining money, and are looking forward to viewing their games on film. It is felt that these films help the boys to see and improve their games. The boys have not only been interested in improving their games, but have teamed with FHA for the last two years in helping them put on successful Christmas Dances. This year's sponsor was Mr. Bill Hauschild. 19

VARSITY CHEERLEADERS: Peg Hird, Nancy Adams, Hope Kucera, Connie Mason. Spirit Is on Our Side HAND WELL COMPANY The 1972-73 pep club was led by four varsity and three junior varsity cheer- leaders. Hope Kucera was voted in head cheerleader. Joyce Kucera and Becky Reitz attended Hawke's Cheerleading Clinic in Grand Island. Many of the pep rallies conjured up by the cheerleaders were very unique with different spirit boosting stunts for the ath- letes and coaches to take part in. The cheerleaders also performed a half-time pom-pom routine to the song Simple Man . With the support of the pep club, student body, and faculty, the cheerleaders led our basketball and football teams to a very successful year.
