The Litchfield High School Band began the school year under the direction of Mr. Kenneth Spaulding. The band first began to prepare for the shows to be put on during the half-time of the football game. Among the shows was one depicting the Seasons of the Year and another in which they used the theme of the song Around the World in Eighty Days in which they took you to the Eiffel Tower, to China with a rickshaw, to the Golden Gate Bridge, and back to Michigan. The band was also invited to Western Michigan at Kalamazoo for Band Day. After this the band prepared for contest, which was hald on March 1, at Brooklyn, Michigan. Here, the band played three numbers: a warm-up march, a selected con- cert piece, and a required number. The band received a III rating, which is an average performance with marked promise. The band was then asked to play for P.T.A., which they did at the February meet- ing. Later in the year they put on the annual Spring Concert. The year was climaxed when they marched at the Memorial Day Parade.
