Our Sophomore year came to a close with a Freld Day on the last day of school Tlus was sometlung new for all of us and we had a good nme except for the cold weather When the frnal score was totaled, we found we hadn't done so well, but we vowed to do better next year and left school rn great andcrpanon of a wonderful summer vacanon When school began m 1956, our class had a lrttle more presnge at L H S for at last we were Junrors Most of us were glad to be back rn school, but once agarn many of our former classmates were missing They were Grace Bradley, Edrth Pratt, and LaVem Kurtz. Rose Brgelow and Jerry Sheerer, two members who had attended school wrth us for eleven years were also gone The only new members were Janet Mase and Chuck Shepherd The offrcers whrch we elected for tlus year were Larry Hamrlton, Presrdent, Chuck Shepherd, Vrce Presrdent, Grnny Smrth, Secretary, Pat Cox, Correspondrng Secretary, and Gale Adams, Treasurer Evrdently, Mr Spercher was destrned to gurde us through hrgh school for he was agam chosen our Class Advisor The brg event rn our Junror year was, of course, the Jumor and Semor Banquet and the J Hop The theme for the J Hop was An Amencan rn Pans The gym was beautrfully decorated rn prnk and black, wrth an arch of lrlacs at the door A wrshrng well rn the center of the floor added to the decoratlons All rn all rt was a very successful dance The banquet was lusczous too' Another hrghlrght of thrs year was our Junror Play, No More Homework' Our drrector was Mrss Rottrer All the mem bers of the cast worked very hard to make the play a great success, and were very glad when rt was over Our Homecomrng Queen candrdate was Judy Shaw and our Snow Queen candidate was Pat Cox The Jumor Class was well represented at these two events Tlus year we were determrned to wrn the Freld Day Trophy, but agam we came out on the short end, however, we drd much better than before When we left school for our summer vacatrons, we realrzed we had only our Semor year facmgus When September, 1957, frnally rolled around, a very important group of students met rn the halls That was us' were Senrors at last' Our teachers felt many of us had contracted a bad case of Semontrs , but we tned our best to be normal The offrcers we chose to lead us rn l1l'l1S last rmportant year were Judy Wade, President, Gale Adams, Vrce Presldent, Judy Shaw, Secretary, Oaklee Noblrt, Correspondrng Secretary, Betty Lambnght, Treasurer, and of course Mr Spercher was our Class Advrsor The frrst event of thrs year was our Semor Play Mr Swonk was the drrector, and the play was entrtled Love Is Too Much Trouble The play was a great success, but after rt was over there was an arr of sadness, because our short dra matic careers had come to an end Our next project was the Senror Prom, our last brg dance The theme was Heaven on Earth The gym was cleverly decorated with blue and gold crepe paper The stage was decorated w1th angels and golden gates, whrch led the way from Heaven to Earth For once rn our high school days, we had a queen elected from our class Our queen was Gmny Smrth She was the Homecommg Queen of 1957 58 Her lung was Bob Caldwell, captarn of the football team Our Snow Queen candrdate was Joan Austrn Thrs ends our class hrstory to date, so we look ahead to the last days of school A day wluch we are anxrously awartrng IS our Semor Skrp Day We are already planmng where we want to go It rsn't often we get an opportumty like thxs' On our Semor Tnp, the last one for students of L H S , we are gomg to Macinac Island Even though we don't know too much about the tnp, we are anucrpatrng a GREAT time For the thtrty srx Senrors rn the Class of 1958, the final week of school marks the clrmax to a hrgh school career Thrs all begms on Sunday May 25, 1958, for tlus rs the mght of Baccalaureate Then on Tuesday mght, we wrll hold the amrual Semor Class Nrght For some of us the most rmportant day of our lrves comes on May 28, 1958 Thrs rs the day of Com mencement Thrs night for some may bnng joy, but for others, sadness w1l1 frll therr hearts for they reahze therr School Days are over, and thrs may be the last ume they wrll meet with all therr classmates After we recerve our drplomas we w1l1 be graduates of Lrtchfreld Hrgh School and here the lustory malong of the Class of 1958 comes to an abrupt end . . . , . . . o . . . . a o o o . .
