C. H. S. was the girls' chorus composed of seventy-five members under the capable direction of Miss Olive Rapp. Miss Rapp introduced a study of voice fundamentals and notation which took place on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All the girls learned much from these lessons. A very popular section of the chorus was the Triple Trio composed of Wanda Fleming, Rosemary Hall, Eileen Ryan, Betty Martin, Alice Niemann, Norma Olinger, Theresa Heise, Carol Prange, and loan White. The accompanist was Audrey Mercer. Other ac- companists for the girls' chorus were Irene Andres and Betty Martin. This year, more than ever before, the chorus gave various musical programs. On December l7, a Christmas Vesper was given which consisted of a Fantasia, Spirit of Christmas, as well as solos and special numbers. Early in the spring the annual operetta was presented by the combined choruses. ln April, several entries were made in the District Music Contest. The May Music Fes- tival at Gillespie was enjoyed by all. As the last appearance of the year, the girls' chorus sang at baccalaureate and commencement. A new addition was made to the curricf ulum this year in the form of a boys' chorus, directed by Miss Olive Rapp. Although many of the boys went out for athletics and other activities, the total membership of the chorus was about thirty. Since no provision was made in the daily schedule for rehearsals, we worked under another handicap. All practices were held during the noon hour and before school. Early in the fall, the entire chorus ap- peared in robes before the assembly, lt sang The Riff Song, The Desert Song, and Anchors Away. The boys appeared again in the Christmas Vespers, which was presented December l7. This time the girls' chorus sang with them. The boys' octet was featured in this program. lt consisted of Bruce Mix, Ray Hauser, Bill Hutchison, lim Thompson, Tohn Ehret, Bert Arnold, Larry Harvell, and Paul Biebel. Mary Lou Bishop was their accompanist, and laney Moss was the accompanist for the chorus. EVER SINCE EVE This comedy of youth is the mirthful story of Susan Blake, a career girl, and the troubles which beset those two loyal mus- keteers, Iohnny Clover and Spud Erwin, Editor and Business Manager of the Preston High School Penguin . Along comes Susan and high pressures herself into the position of Assistant Editor. Before the curtain falls on the second act, Susan has almost bank- rupt the Penguin, shaken the friendship of lohnny and Spud, and given them the measles. Because of an illegal pinball game which almost lands them all in jail, lohnny's mother has to step in and save the day for everyone. Susan Blake ......,,. ..,......
