hy AG Salutatory Address a Tonight, the graduating class of 1941 of Titch- leid School is extromely hapoy to welcome each and very one of you to these exercises which so fitting- y mark the close of our high school carcer. Many times we have lived this hour in anticipa- tion, but we never really sensed the swectness and the fullness and the fineness of this important ana Stirring occasion until tonight. It is hard to de- seribe this glorious, wonderful feeling which enfulfs 18. yz PAM 2S SE ' Ve aro sure that it gives you satisfaction, as it docs us, that wo have finished what wo have start- sd and have earned diplomas which secm to challenge s to push forward to the commencement of bigger and etter things. The men who now guide the destinics of the world sgonce stood just as we stand, at the parting of the (| eter and looked ahead expectantly, eagerly, end per- ‘ haps half fearfully, to see what life held in store ror them, We, too, are doing that very thing now. We are deeply and seriously conscious of: what he people of this community have done for us, and of the many privleges which have been ours... We shall lways hold in mind tenderly and gratefully all that hese years have meant to us, all they have brought o us and alli they have taught, for we ere inevitably 'a part of all we have met.” Thomas Henry Huxley said, Perhaps the most val- able result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first fosson that ought to be learned; and however early a ants training begins it is probably the last lesson hat he learms thoroughly. , We hope that our goals may be achieved and that fe may always posscss the power to confront obstac- E6s which may threaten to block our way. We wish to thank youfor coming hore tonight. fe are indeed proud to know that you are interested n our accomplishments, and it is our sincerest de- pire to make you more proud of us in the years to Sr OmMC. | The class of 1941 salutes you! ae, Susan Dangelo Salutatorian Ss os es i ee eS ; , — . Mis os os CLASS HISTORY In 1929, there assembled 14 bashful little pupils in the first grade. Of course everything seemed strange at first but we soon learned that when our teacher, Miss Helen Smith, blew the wistle, we had to leave our play and begin study again. Of the fourteen, six have always gone to this sc hool: Ruth Petersen, Court Musser Jr., Max Barth, Eleanor Browand, Evellyn Everiss, and Dorothy Rising. Janice Hines and Carol Erb started with us but they left during the third grade and Susie Dangelo left during the fourth grade. Miss Laury and Miss Huston were our teachers during those two years. Soon we were under Miss Robinson and we began to think-- Only six more years. The seventh year found us with our former member, Janice Hines. Now we had no recess un- less we changed classes on the wrong bell. We seemed to have taken our eighth grade graduation as seriously as the seniors did that year, but I'm sure we were cager to see just what real high school procedure was like. But what's this! Did Susie and Carol also remember us? Anyway, Susie came back in the ninth grade and Carol in the tenth. The boys of our class soon took part in high school athletics. Prehaps John Steiner realized that the girls far outnumbered the boys TOorsne joined us in the Junior Class. But he did not balance the situation, for he brought his twin sister, Dawn, with him. Now we come to the individual history which sncludes incidents which have been quite ob- vious during the past. Johnny Steiner is noted for his mouth organ and guitar playing and he could represent our class in being the musical entertainer. Court, outstanding because of his wavy blonde hair, is our athlete: Max Barth, being famous for the steers he raises has the farming ability; Ruth Petersen and Janice Hines are our model housewives or home economics ¢x- ponents; Dawn represents our class as one who soars to unknown heights and is our happy-go- lucky member; Evellyn and Dorothy are the young- =A Suess
