Ccbbrtion 87 The weekend of November 14 was a special one for David Lipscomb College. The students and faculty spent weeks in preparation for the weekend’s events. In conjunction with Homecoming, the ASA organized “Celebration ‘87,’ which included “Bisonfest’’ on Friday and the Homecoming | festivities on Saturday. Friday, November 13, students were released from afternoon classes to crowd into Bison Square for a variety of attractions, including musical | entertainment, costumed social clubs, and free food. During ‘“Bisonfest,” ASA | Vice President Lee Camp, dressed in a purple wig as one OF the PY? P.P.P., introduced Frank Bennett, coach of the Lady Bisons, who in turn introduced his squad. Also introduced was Don Meyer | and his squad. Then the cheerleaders picked out each social club to perform chants that supported their theme in a Bison Square pep rally. The musical Brigadoon was presented Thursday through Saturday nights. With hauntingly beautiful songs -and gorgeous sets, Brigadoon -moved audiences every night. Y, Bison Darren Henrie gives it all he’s got as he slams this one home during the Tusculum Homecoming game. Before Brigadoon disappears for another hundred years, Fiona (Terri Schott) and Tommy (Bobby Ray) declare their love for each other in the Homecoming musical. Lipscomb’s concert band plays as the queen and court enter during the coronation ceremony. P.P.P.P.P. members old and new sing to keep us laughing as always. Photo by David England slebrilin 87 covlinued November 14 alumni came to enjoy Homecoming ‘87. Some planned for months to attend their alma mater’s Homecoming. As early as 8 a.m. former students and their families and friends gathered for reunion coffees. Chapel was held and awards were presented in ceremonies both before chapel and the coronation pageant. Five people were inducted to the L ipscomb Hall of Fame: Will Brewer, former Lipscomb golfer, Ken Dugan, baseball coach, Tom Hanvey, former gymnastics coach, and Herschel Priestly, first interscholastic coach at -Lipscomb.
