aking a closer look is exactly what the people at David Lipscomb College did during the ‘84- ‘85 school year. Most of the faculty served on special committees, a service which they all thoroughly enjoyed. These committees studied every aspect of the school, including the administration, the library, the individual departments, and the quality of our graduates. Our programs were tested and compared to the national standards. All of these meetings and questionnaires and reports and requests and suggestions and surveys and, primarily the self-study itself, were for one purpose: to make David Lipscomb College the best it can be. We here at the Backlog have joined these ranks and conducted our own evaluation involving the students and their views on the college experience. Our research team worked diligently and faithfully, scouring the campus with the hope of finding answers to some very basic questions: ‘Why is there something instead of nothing? Order instead of chaos? Life instead of nonlite? Morality instead of nonmorality? A swish of the hands, utterances sounding something like ‘You're Crazy! and rolling eyeballs were our only answers. So much for the intellectually stimulating introduction we had hoped for. We were crushed; however, we continued our search with even greater fervor for the transcendentally complex being we call ourselves.
