COWBOY SHOW Lipscomb went western on Friday, Jan- uary 15 when a group of ‘‘Good ole’ boys’”’ transformed Alumni Auditorium into another Grand Ole Opry complete with foot stomping, toe tapping, and hand clapping. The third annual Tau Phi Cowboys and Friends Show drew a big crowd and cap- tivated their fans with a line-up of true instrumental and vocal talent. Banjo pickin’ by Wade Denny and David Sweeney along with Karen Mauney’s fid- dle playin’ were some special features which heightened the country flavor. It was also a night of blazing personal- ities patterned after the unique country music business. Master of Ceremonies Jacky ‘“‘Jack’” White held a pocketful of jokes and anecdotes that coincidentally introduced each guest while Jacky of- fered each performer his vote for ‘‘coun- try music’s “Entertainer of the Year.” Nick Western and the Spurs dropped in for an enchanting appearance, breaking from their running engagement at the Bait and Tackle Shop.
