24 Bison Square took on the atmo- sphere of a carnival on November 11, as Bison Day 1980 took place, heralding the opening of basketball season at Lipscomb. This annual event once again gave campus so- cial clubs the opportunity to exer- cise their creativity, and many club members were found cavorting around campus as munchkins, wiz- ards, M M’s, yachtsmen and such, and even an invisible force. Following the official proclamation of Bison Day in chapel, President Collins was once again bestowed with gifts from each club, and the brightly costumed clubs preceeded to demonstrate their school spirit in step and verse. McQuiddy Gymnasi- um rocked with some quite imagina- tive chanting which continued on to Bison Square and the afternoon pep rally. continued on page 26 1. Zeta Nu actives swarm into their hive, admonish- ing everyone to ‘‘Bee for the Bisons. ’ 7. A l- pha Sigma girls take on the magical appear- ance of genies in the spirit of Bison Day. 8. Samauri Sigma Chi wins first place in the men’s competition. 9, 10. Phi Omega entreats the Bisons to ‘‘Hop to It’’ as bunny rabbits. 8. Delta Sig- ma thinks the Bisons have a victory ‘‘wrapped up in the first game of the year. 9. Delta Delta expresses their spirit with silence as mimes. 10. Tau Phi jazzes up their act with their rendition of ‘‘When the Saints Go March- ing In.” continued from page 24 The celebration climaxed with the evening’s basketball games between both Bison teams and the Crusaders of Tennessee Temple. When the win- ners of the club competition were announced, the crayons of Pi Delta had marked up a victory for them- selves in the women’s division, while Sigma Chi Delta’s samauri captured first place in the men’s competition. When the day’s festivities had end- ed, the Bison men had fallen to Tem- ple in the season opener, while the Lady Bisons had trampled the Cru- sader women 83-50. 40) iw Ce O 7) nC)
