Department activities include trips to the Smokey Mountains, Tech-Aqua Biological Sta- tion, Radnor Lake Observatory, the Children’s Museum, and natural areas. The American Institute of Biological Sciences (student biological society) conducts meetings and special seminars as well as emphasizing careers in the field of biology. BIBLE DEPARTMENT The Bible Department has been enriched this year with the additions of Dr. Tom Holland and Mr. Lucien Palmer. Dr. Holland heads the new William Anderson Preacher Training Center located in remodeled Cockrill House. Mr. Palmer is working with the Missionary in Residence Program for a year. Other members of the Bible faculty along with Dr. Batsell B. Baxter, chairman of the department, continue to effectively pF teach daily Bible courses. Axel W. Swang, Chairman BUSINESS DEPARTMENT The largest department on campus is the Business Department with over 500 majors this year and 300 more registrations. Still in the planning stage is a new Business Administration Building. The department is striving to raise $350,000-$400,000 privately before announcing publicly the need for funds. Many of the members of the department have re- ceived recognition for their contributions to the field of business. Dr. Swang was elected the Secretary- Treasurer of the Southern States Conference of CPAs for the fifteenth consecutive year. Also, Mr. Charles Frasier had two articles in the local business magazine Advantage. New to the Business Department is a semi-annual Business Administrator Lecture for DLC students in which graduates of Lipscomb speak.
