Page 7 text:

We remember what happened to us here from September of 1967 through September of 1968 as a whirling kaleidoscope of isolated events which somehow merge and blur as we try to pinpoint them. We remember that we studied in the library and talked in the library and listened in class and slept in class. We ate lunch and sat on the wall and watched the clock and drank a coke. There was a date Friday night and TV Saturday night and studying late Sun- day night. We went to church and went to class and we went to chapel. We listened to WMAK or WKDA or WSIX F.M. and typed and thought and figured and complained and cried and laughed and phoned and loved. We did a the million things in a million ways. But each of the million ultimately fell into one of three categories, whose total encompasses all activi- ty of any kind at Lipscomb. For everything we did was either to examine and improve our re- lationship with God, or to gain academic know]- edge, or to confront and make contact with each other. The proportionate interests and ef- fort which any one person put into any one of these three depended largely on which person he was and what his interests and goals were. But all of us at one time or another engaged to some degree in all of these areas of Lipscomb activity. This book purports to represent to you that engagement. Nashville, Tennessee

“We went to class” ... It is faith — in God and man made stronger by action.
