Page 24 PRESIDENT ATHENS CLAY PULLIAS Since becoming president of David Lipscomb College in 1946, Athens Clay Pullias has retained the distinction of being one of the youngest college heads in the country. He is a great evan- gelist, lawyer, and “business man, as well as scholar and educator, and he possesses a rare combination of abilities, energies, and preparation particularly fitting him to head a growing liberal arts college. After graduating from Lipscomb, then a junior college, and receiving his B.A. and LL.B. degree from Cumber- Jand University in Lebanon, ‘Tennessee, and his B.D. degree from the Vanderbilt School of Religion, he joined the Lipscomb faculty in 1934 and served as teacher: head of the Bible Depart- ment, executive assistant, and vice- president prior to becoming president. In 1944 he was placed in charge of the Lipscomb Expansion Program, and by January, 1956, more than $4,000,000 had been raised under his leadership. He is married to ek former Mary Frances Newby, a graduate of Lipscomb and Pez body Colleges and Ward- Belmont Conservatory of Music, and their son, Clay Jr., is enrolled in Lipscomb Elementary School.

VICE-PRESIDENT WILLARD COLLINS Willard Collins became vice-president of David Lips- comb College in 1946. He has participated in the Lipscomb Expansion Program launched in 1944, and is a widely known gospel preacher, religious writer, and educator. He is also on the editorial staff of the 20th Century Christian and the Gospel Advocate. Re- cently he became a member of the editorial committee of the Gospel Press of Lubbock, Texas, which is con- ducting a national advertising campaign urging a return to New Testament Christianity. He is well- known to radio and television audiences, having been chairman of the program planning committee for the “Know Your Bible” television program for two years and commentator for Lipscomb Chapel Singing broad- casts. An alumnus of Lipscomb, he has the B.A. and M.A. degrees from Vanderbilt University, and was re- cently elected to the national board of directors of the American College Public Relations Associations. He is married to the former Ruth Morris, also a graduate of Lipscomb, and they have two children, Carole and Corinne. DEAN J. P. SANDERS . Sanders became Dean of David Lipscomb Col- oes. in n 194, and under his guidance the academic pro- gram of Lipscomb was expanded from junior college to senior college level, until the college was accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Dean Sanders has an unusually broad educa- tional background, having received the B.S. degree from Texas Christian University; the M.S. degree in chemistry from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, where he made one of the most brilliant records ever estab- lished by a graduate student; the B.D. degree from the Vanderbilt School of Religion; and the Ph.D. de- gree from the University of Southern California. He is a widely known evangelist, as well as a scholar and director, and has had a part in the beginning of two outstanding religious publications. He is married to the former Gloria Millay and they have three sons, Joel, Michael, and Ricky. Page 25
