By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. To the Lipscomb student Brother Baxter epitomizes humility. His humbleness of spirit, yet firmness of purpose, are living sermons to those who observe him daily. His plainness in presenting God's Word, his apt illustrations from a life rich with experience make one see that the gospel is applicable to every phase of life. One who has contributed greatly to the success of four Christian colleges, having been president of three, Brother Baxter is truly a man who serves for the good of the school with no thought of personal attainment. Because of his humility, his forgetfulness of self, his genuine love of the church, we, the Senior Class, do dedicate THE 1949 BACKLOG to Batsell Baxter.
