The Student Council sponsored spirit week in prep- aration for Homecoming 1980-81. Students showed their school spirit by wearing special costumes during spirit week, and by attending a bonfire sponsored by the Pep Club. Thursday night. The most popular day of the week was Tuesday. Soul Day.” Students and teachers visualized soul” in various apparel. Seniors, Rex Smith. Roberta Pickett and Vicki May won the award for most representative of the day. Wednesday was T.V. Personality Day.” Sophomore. Tracy Un- derwood as Dolly Parton and Senior. Fred Burch. Schneider of One Day at a Time. won best imper- sonators. Thursday. Career day. students and teach- ers paraded the halls dressed as what they wanted to be when they grew up. There were a lot of laughs that day. Richard Shannon, principal of LHS dressed as Doc and Janie Rose dressed as Cupid won that day. Spirit Week ended with purple and gold day. The spectacular display of school spirit was best repre- sented by the winners Stacey Tinberg. senior, and Mr. Don Hills, teacher. 17

Martha Oelschlaeger 1980-81 Homecoming Queen The 1980-81 Linwood High School Homecoming was held October 10. The game was against the Williamsburg Panthers. 18-0. The crowning ceremonies took place at half-time. Miss Martha Oelschlaeger, a senior, escorted by Rex Smith, was crowned the 1980-81 Homecoming Queen. Her attendants were Miss Stacey Tinberg. a senior, escorted by Mike Lisenbee. and Miss Donna DeMaranville, a junior, escorted by Tom Stidham. Michele Montoya. 1979-80 Queen crowned Miss Oelschlaeger. Assisting in the ceremonies were crown bearers from Linwood first grade. They were Erin Capps. Shanna DeMaranville. and Steven Ringel. Also helping were the student body president. Janie Rose, and vice-president. Roberta Pickett.
