Dick lost a gallant battle for his life against a heart mal- formation suffered from birth. Surgery and treat- ment failed to give him the strength and health he needed to survive. We hope that the courage and unfailing cheerfulness that he showed during his brief life may be an inspiration to the class and to all who enjoy this book. l The Revue of 1956 -lu-in ,A 5 1 3 1 il , - A Jn' --n.:' ' -- , ' '- ' ' ...,....,...,, -zz. , ,.., ,-.,.,4hu .........-..,,1. 7 9 A 7 h I X: 4 W F N A Dlfflcult to drlve Easy to govern but 1mposs1ble to enslave. The junior class is very appreciative for the valuable time do- nated by these teachers to help with the stand. The junior class has the privilege of running the concession stand at the ball games. The money they earn is used to help finance the junior trip. If the students had to pay for everything on the trip, there wouldn't be many students whowould be able to go. The money is divided among the juniors according to the number of points each has earned. The points that each student earns are determined by the number of times he has worked at the concession stand. A full share canbe obtained by earning the number of points desig- nated by the sponsors. This set number of points is determined by the number of games there are and the number of students there are in the class. If the number of points for one full share were six, and a student would earn only three points, he would get one -half a share. 37 m J Sophomores X Kalki FIRST ROW: Gloria Blough. In that year a summer baseball league was formed by the coaches ofthe surround- ing communities, In 1952 Sandborn won the championship. In 1953-1954 Linton won it, In the summer of 1955, due to the fact that Linton was building a new grade-school, the local base- ball diamond had to be moved. Since the con- struction of another diamond would not be corn- pleted in time for the league, the league activities were called off for the 1955 season. Since the team was organized,it has been under the watchful eyes of our two coaches, Mr.Hoskins and Mr. Williams. The members of the team appreciate the efforts put forth by these two men. Jerry was selected in January of 1954 as a participant in General Electric's Apprentice Program. Jerry is fairly typical of the caliber of young men selected for this program. He was a high school graduate fLyons High School, 19521 with a keen interest in technical education and in training for an industrial future. All his grades were above average and he was partic- ularly interested in his majors in Math and Science. He was able to meet the minimum requirements of one year each of Algebra, Geom- etry and Physics or Chemistry. In addition Jerry was highly recommended by his former teachers, former employers and friends. Now about at the half-way point in his three and one half year apprentice course of specialized training for his industrialcareer asa ma- chine-toolmaker, Jerry also likes the idea of earning while he learns, particularly since he has a wife and child to support. Mr. Richard E. Gebert, Supervisor of Apprentices at General Electric's Broadway Plant at Fort Wayne, is proud of Jerry and the other 153 apprentices who show such promise for a career in industry. The Apprentice Program at Fort Wayne which began in 1953, offers apprenticeships in Machinist-Toolmaking and Drafting. If you're like Jerry Hinchman and want a career in industry, contact your math teacher or the Personnel Office of the Linton General Electric Plant and get all the details.
