It must be said that more homework, and more difficult tests are given in history than in any other classes. Unless the subject is taught correctly, with the emphasis put upon relevance in today's world, it can also be one of the most uninteresting classes a student ever has to take. At Linton, we are fortunate enough to be experiencing a gradual change in the history curriculum toward more relevancy. No longer is it important to repeat dates and information that were once memorized, and then forgotten. History now teaches a student to think, to be able to express himself in writing, to listen, and to understand and remember what is heard. We must learn ideas and concepts. These same standards that are evoked in history courses are also standards necessary for our survival in today's world. 89
