Hay Denney, Charlene Votaw, Joann Kroft. Our band is looking forward with strong hopes and determination this year. The band. un- der the direction of Xliss Klarie Baumgartner, emerged from the District Band Contest. which was held at North Klanchester last year, with a first rating. This makes the third consecutive year that the band has won blue ribbon honors in the District Contests. XV1- then w-ent to the State Contest which was held at Xappanee, and came through in second place. 'l'he Hand made its first appearance this year on September 15th. where they played dur- ing an Ice Cream Social given by the Senior Class. Then on October 23rd. they played for the Re- publican Rally. November Sth found them in the middle of a big Country Style Program at which they played sex eral old time and Vvestern style pieces. On November 12th. a Sax Trio and Flute Duet appeared at the Armory, Then on December 17th came the Christmas Program. which ev- eryone f'l1jHf'l'll, Un lfebruary flst. several solos and two ensembles will go to Fort lvayne to take part in musical competition, the ensembles consisting of a Hrass Quartet. The solos, Lois Tyner, Lorene .lamf-rson, Nliriam lfppley, .Ioan Burwell, and James Van Camp. llarch I-1-th has been set aside as County Hand lfe-:rival time, and April 3rd.
