Forward Doc Baer hit 7 field goals and 4 foul shots for 18 points and Butler hit a total of 17 points. Linlawn met the Central Trojans and were defeated on the Trojan hardwood 50-43 in a rough and tumble game. Ogle hit 15 for the victors, while Ford garnered 11. Hack into the winning column marched the Pirates as they defeated Lafontaine 35-24. Reed and Ford tallied 11 and 10 points respec- tively. lfmrick scored 9 for the losers. The hot shooting Comet Five dealt the Pi- rates a defeat by edging them out in a thriller 42-40. lNIoldie Pottenger showed the way for the losers with 10 points, while hot-shooting forward Scott hit 14 for Lagro. Playing the rubber , the Pirates handed Urbana their second defeat by a score of 52-45. Pottenger and Baer hit 14 and 13 points rcs- pectively and Darle Dawes gathered 10 for the Speedkings. ln the last scheduled game, Linlawn won a thriller from Chippewa 45-44. Star Nielsen shouldered the burden of the Pirates with I7 counters and Armstrong lead the big red with 13. ln a fast first quarter the Pirates jumped to a 14-1 lead over Roann in the fourth game of sectional play. The Linlaywn five was never in any real danger and won easily 51-40. Doc Baer accounted for 14 of the Pirates' points and Ray Steele took high honor for the llaroon and 1Vhite with 17. In the opening game of the Semi-Final NYabasl1 edged by the Pirates 59-50 in a close battle. The brilliant shooting of lNIoldie Pot- tenger was the real show of the entire tourney. He played the most outstanding game of his high school career. Pottenger garnered 15 for the 1-lowardmen while lVhitey Thompson seemed to run wild and scored 24. Chester took the tourney by defeating Chip- pewa, Urbana, South Wvhitley, and Yvabash. PAGE TNS ENTY'NINE
