Everyone got busy and started to make posters to get votes for their class candi- dates. This year the Carnival was planned to be the biggest and the best of any ever given at Linlawn. Not only the Junior and Senior classes sponsored shows and concessions, but all of the other four grades had a concession or two. liach of the separate stands was in a different classroom. One of the classes and a sponsor were in charge. ln the Gym was a main pro- gram under the direction of our music director. lliss llarie Baumgartner. Advance ticket sales took care of the admission to this main event. Since the 17th of March falls on St. Pat- rick's Day. the decorations carried out the green and white colors of the day in all of the stands. Now for the stands and who sponsored each one of them: 'lihe seventh grade, under the leadership of Hr. XVilliams, had charge of the dart throw- ing. For their prizes, they gave Cat-Head Balloons. ln the next room we come to, we find the eighth grade. They took care of two conces- slfms, the Fish Pond and the Ring-a-Cane. The lfish Pond had a large variety of prizes and nov- elties. His- Burchlzy helped the eighth grade. ln llr. Howard's room. we found the Freshmen taking care of the Daisy Dodgers. A lot of fun for everyone but the one taking part of the Dodger. Also in the Gym, Klr. Howard was in charge of the Basketball free throw. Next we walked into Klrs. Robinsons Home llc. Room. Right about that time,we were a little hungry, so guess what? lVe dis- covered the food concession, complete with hot dogs and everything. All sorts of delicious things to eat. llrs. Robinson had charge of the Sophomore stands. Along with the food stand, they also took care of the weight guess- ing booth. Later, we walked up to the Study Hall. Here we found a movie in progress. This en- tertainment was sponsored by the Junior class under the direction of llr. Bechtold. The Juniors also took care of the ice cream and can- dy stand. XVe saw the Seniors every place. They were busy counting votes for the king and queen. everyone hoping, of course, that the Senior can- didates would win. At 8:30 the ballot boxes were closed, and a final tabulation of the votes was made. As completion of the Carnival, the King and Queen were crowned. The coronation was performed by Betty Garrison who was queen four years ago, and 1Ir. Shanahan. Tom- my lvaymire, who was king four years ago, is now in the Navy and was unable to be present at the Carnival this year.
