Linfield life is embodied in a spirit, a Wildcat Spirit, which permeates the life of every student. This Wildcat Spirit is shown in all areas of life on the campus. The Academic life is of major importance and our reason for being at an institution of higher learning. Sports play an extra- curricular role in the life of students. Social life is a result of an inborn desire for human companionship. Traditions are a part of Linfield, and Linfield is made of traditions. Religion is a part of every individual whether he is aware of it or not. At Linfield a student has the opportunity to become aware of his inner self and religion in his life. This total Wildcat Spirit was vividly exemplified in the campus reactions to the Columbus Day Storm of 1962. :-- ' M X ..,.. ' -Qi iiiii .,,, N- L- s 1 ' . sy S . ... DILLIN-professor, business manager, president, friend - who this year marks his Twentieth year as Linfield's president. Dr. Dillin is known as a builder. Under his leadership all campus buildings have been built or completely remodeled. The new Dillin Hall was named in his honor. This magnificent struc- ture 'of modern architecture is an outstanding tribute to his leader- ship and never-ending work at Linfield. But Dr. Dillin builds more than buildings. Forget not his friendship to students and faculty, his pleasant personality and warm smile, his contributions to academic life and to the welfare of all on campus. We respect and look up to him. ln May 1943, Dr. Dillin became the 17th President of Linfield College. In this, his twentieth year in this office, we pay tribute to him by the dedication of the 1963 Oak Leaves to our friend, teacher, and president, Dr. Harry L. Dillin. 4 t VKJQE1 v9lff 3T52?5i? To the student after three years This life has become normal. The weekends of anticipation Social events, of study, glide by Few giving as much as the anticipation The classes each add a jot, a dot And individually seem to drag, A waste of time. But as the years pass and in conversation or in seeming trance As you wait in the commons line, Your mind goes back to those Different days. To the dreaming of Becoming Collegiate. How different Was your life, your view of reality. The classes have added up, at least In the successful cases, To a changed person as you have met The view of the world,s past, Of the world's vast entirety. The radio voice of Linfield, better known as Radio Linfield or KLIN, has been on the air during most of the college year broadcasting to residence halls and other buildings on campus during the evening hours. The staff kept up a Monday through Friday schedule of programs to give Linfield students music to study by and thoughts and ideas for thinking, as well as campus news. Several students worked on the staff in var- ious capacities during the year. There were sta- tion managers, program directors, record librar- ians, engineers, disc iockeys, and announcers needed to carry out the work of radio Linfield. Students who participated gained valuable experience in radio work and performed a ser- vice for the college and the student body through their efforts over Radio Linfield. Prof. Craig Singletary worked with the staff as advisor during the year. The crew kept campus listeners hopping with music and ideas during the evening hours.
