DEDICATION It was a job to be done. It was theirs to do. America saw some of her college students all over the country close their text books, tuck away their athletic equipment, and take up the arms and uniforms of Uncle Sam's service. For four long years from Europe to the south Pacific, they con- tinued to do that job. Now they have returned to their college classrooms, and America rolls up her sleeves preparing for the long fight for peace. Clasping hands with those who have returned, we, all college students of America, aware of the great need of education in the world today, are ever striving for the noble attainment of the ideals of democracy and freedom of all mankind. To this then, do we dedicate this 1946 Oak Leaves, to all American college students, that theirs may be the ac- ceptance of this challenge to prepare their minds and lives for the furtherance of peace on earth and that theirs may be a time when these words will be fulfilled: . . . and they shall beat their swords into plowshare, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any moref' Isaiah 2 24. -3-
