OAK LEAVES 1931 FOREWORD . J NTl PATER of Palestine, the author of a guide-book for travelers, lived about tivo centuries before the Christian era. To him may be traced the list, since become au¬ thoritative, of the objects accounted worthy of a place among the seven wonders of the an¬ cient world .... Each of the seven wonders of the ancient world was built for a purpose . Their builders dreamed, and planned and worked to make of them the largest, the most wonderful and the most beautiful of any of their kind in the world . . . . As in ancient days men strove to build worthily of that which their labor ivas to represent, Linfield strives to build the highest and best of young womanhood and manhood ....
