There were six experienced players returning for action, but this year marked our entrance into a different and stronger conference. The first game was a non-conference game ar.d an easy victory over Taylors Falls, 20 to 0. The Bulldogs fell in the next three games against Rush City, Pine City, Moose Lake. The two most thrilling games of the season were played with North Branch and Chisago City. In the North Branch game the Bulldogs took the field with a record of no conference wins, upsetting North Branch, who had no previous defeats, by a score of 13 to 12. The last game of the season was with Chisago City who were champions of their conference. The game was played to a tie, 6 to 6. Don Connor placed on the all-conference team. The Bulldogs won their first 6 games of the year, including a victory over the strong St. Paul Humboldt team. The Bulldogs lost to Chisago City and, after dropping a game to Forest Lake, won 5 straight conference games before they met Forest Lake again and were defeated. They completed their conference season with a 9-3 record, good for second place. The Bulldogs breezed through the first two games in the district before being forced into overtime in the final, but they finally merged victorious with a district championship for the first time in 9 years. Their first regional test Esko, the eventual tourney winner, defeated Chi-Hi 72-59 and Chisholm eked out a 75-70 victory in the consolation game, as the Bulldogs ended a very successful season. ponsorad by Osfrom't Fairway Stora, and Fatla' Foofwaar, Linditrom 39 ROW 1; Left to Right: M. The years 1954-1955 have meant big years to the Lindstrom-Center City High School Band, un- der the direction of Mr. Lindvall. After making it to the state contest last year we were determineato do the same if not more this year. During the sum- mer, we were kept busy with concerts and parades. On September 25, our band journeyed down to the University football game to participate in High School Band day with 46 other bands. November 9, seventeen band members participated in the All- Star Concert at Chisago City. At Homecoming, the band staged a square-dance routine during the half- time. Sunday afternoon, January 16, we listened to our radio concert over WSHB. The District Music Contest was held in Forest Lake on April 22. The band appreciated the cooperation and hard work of Mr. Lindvall, and look forward to another busy year. The Lindstrom-Center City High School chorus has also had a busy year. To start off the year, twelve chorus members participated in the All-Star Concert in Chisago City on November 9. For the first time this year, eight members took part in All- State Chorus. On December 16, a beautiful candle- lighted Christmas Concert was presented in the school auditorium. On the eve of December 19, the chorus members motored to Bethesda Home in Chisago City and the St. Croix Hospital, where some of the concert numbers were repeated. The chorus also participated in the radio concert. Fol- lowing the Christmas holidays, they began work on the Seven Last Words presented as a community project on Easter Sunday evening in the Center Ci- ty Church. The chorus members, under the direc- tion of Mr. Lindvall, have been cooperative and have done a fine job to add to the music of our school. Sponsored by The Time Gift Shop, end Dr. Eerl E. The Steno II class leaves the clanging radiators ond their ability to keep their mouths shut to the Steno I class. We hereby bequeath the following individual traits in hopes that they will be cherished forever in the hearts of immortal Juniors. Marilyn leaves a little speed to Patsy in hopes that her red head doesn’t get away, ’cause you can't hardly get them no more. Yvonne leaves her ability to snag boys to Ardelle V. The Senior girls leave Paul, the class Romeo , to the Junior girls. Stuart leaves his heart trouble to Neil in hopes that his controlling interest in his Dad's Cadillac will help him cure it. Orville leaves his tender affections for Clancey to Berge. (Also his intimate conversations during band.) Richard Nick leaves his walking gum counter to Joan M. and the City of Duluth to Joan, Janis, and Mary. (But we don’t think they’ll want it.) Donnie leaves his football ability to Roger N. Kathy and Orville leave their ability to get along to JoAnn and George. To the unsuspecting Juniors, we leave our loyal ad- visor — Gus — our never-to-be-forgotten social classes; and the accompanying tests — hoping that they can find the book they came from. Anything that may be left over, we hereby bequeath to Miss Evans. And some day, some day, yes, some day, Mr. Lind- vall, you’ll get yours. We hereby nominate and appoint Mr. Mart-n T. Pet- erson executor of this our last will and testament, hoping it will not pain him too much to part with these prizes. In witness thereof, we have heretofore set our hand and seal, at Lindstrom-Center City this thirty-first day of May, one thousand nine-hundred fifty-five. 46 Sponsored by Westlund Monument Company, and Shorty's Placa. Center City We See Juto the Suture Usually, by the time ten years pass, a class of 36 people would be scattered all over the world and it would be difficult to trace them. But oddly enough, in the year 1965, we can sit at home and find out what has happened to every member of this extraordinary class of 1955 by merely turning on our television sets. Let's spend a day with them. What a pleasant surprise it is at 9 a. m. to tune in Channel 5, for there is Carol Soneral telling us the story of Happy Childhood Tales in Ding Dong School. At 9:45, we turn to Channel 11 to see Sheriff Sev, alias Lowell Peterson, who during his spare hours is caller at the Sunset Valley barn dance. That same channel brings us Marilyn Ho- hag with I Have a Recipe.” Nick's Music Hour is next with songs written by Richard Nick and sung by soloist, Kermit Valleen. At 12 o'clock we listen to the news and hear a special news bulletin — Roy Goranson has just been appointed as head of the Atomic Energy Com- mission. Oh no, a commercial! Hey, this one’s dif- ferent. It's someone we know. It's Muriel John- son, the new movie starlet, advertising her new movie to be soon released. Now we're going to take just a glimpse of the Globe Trotters. Why, there is Laurel (Goose) Tangren! He's shooting now — he made it, and that makes his 159th point in this game. But let's switch from basketball to football with the Green Bay Packers with Donnie Connor as their star play- er. He holds the world's record for yards gained in one season with his gain of 9,728 yards. Oh, good, it's time for Kukla, Fran and Ollie; but we find that they have been replaced by Eddy Enerson, Burt Sorenson, and Lowell Lundeen. Now we're listening to a political campaign by Charles Fried who is running as the first man from Chisago County for President of the United States, with Audrey Sellman as his campaign manager. And now for a little more entertainment. We turn to the Jackie and Marianne Dance Show and on the commercial we see Barbara Johnson ad- vertising Toni Home Permanent. As 4 o'clock rolls around, we turn to Super Cir- cus and get a glimpse of their star acrobat, Margie Rylander, doing a trapeze act. Superman comes on with Art Rue in the title role. Next we turn to the hot rod races with Paul Anderson coming in second with his hot Dodge. Here comes the emcee of Welcome Strangers, Frank Lindstrom. He is welcoming his first guest. Why, it's Jean Olson, who has been on a tour of Wisconsin. The next guest is Lowell Lundeen who is the narrator of Kartoon Kapers. A flash bulletin! Eddie Enerson has replaced Red Skelton with his show called Blond Skelton.” Quick, turn the chan- nel ! It's time for Huey's Sports Corner, with Joe Long. Let's fix some supper now and get back to the television set in time to see Wayne Cartier on Walt's Workshop. By the way, Wayne's quick rise to fame came with colored TV—his flaming red hair caused a sensation with the Bobby Soxers. June Bride, starring Valerie Christenson is also on at this time. John Wayne just won $80 on The Name's the Same.” The public liked him so much better than the original John Wayne that they gave him a television contract. Why, it’s time for Meet Millie with Yvonne Pauley, and there's Margie Rylander again in My Little Margie. Turning the channel, we see Con- nie Lindvig in On the Waterfront.” We almost missed Slim Jim, in real life Stuart Johnson, who is the villain in the movie Living It Up.” Who is advertising Lipton's Soups since God- frey retired? Why, it's Floyd Nelson, and look at the talent scout sitting next to him. It's Kathy Ol- son, and she looks proud as a queen and a little dreamy-eyed as he tells who she has brought with her. There he is — Orville Johnson — in his song and dance routine of Heart of my Heart. The next scout brings us the Johnson Barbershop Quar- tette with Phyllis, Barbara. Muriel and Laura. The third contestant is Gerald Faanes who has served his 8 years and 2 days in the- National Guard and has recently perfected a comedy act. He's a riot! But we can't wait to see the winner, for Channel 4 is showing Gloria Farnell receiving an Oscar on Night Owl Play House for her performance in The Yearling. That accounts for every member of that mem- orable class of 1955. We had expected great things from them. They didn't disappoint us! Sponsored by Confer City Food Market, end Center City Garage 47
