Mrs. Catherine G. Rodgers 9' .Ww nzteaidentia, fbwli As I write this, the nation is at last becoming aroused about the needs fora better educational program for America. This is a concern that is long past due, for we have failed to realize that our safety and our very way of life depend upon a trained and intelli- gent citizenry. We at Lindsey Wilson share in this concern and will strive to achieve an even better quality of instruction in the years ahead. We shall at the same time strive more diligently to awaken each student to our common need. But it is our belief here that education is more than scientific training. It is our conviction that education is more than scientific training. It is our conviction that educa- tion must touch the whole man, giving him right ideals and Christian attitudes and the ability to discriminate not only between good and evil, but also between the best and the second best and the courage to cleave to the best. lt is our hope that students of Lindsey Wilson will have received the kind of education that will cause them to want to direct scientific advance toward the creation of a better world. We strive to help develop those qualities of character that will make of you good citizens that will cherish and defend the blessings that are ours in a free society. But we also hope that you will believe in and cherish the values and ideals of the Kingdom of God and be equally good citizens of that which, though not yet fully realized, we strive to build.
