Baseball FRONT ROW, KNEELING: Tim DeBusk, .lay Dolgon, Andy Pai, Thad Vermillion, Bradley Gales, Billy Groves, Bryan Sproston, and Robert Daniels. SECOND ROW: Coach Alderman, Scott Brown, Pat Shortt, Roger Headrick, David White, Verlon Reece, Ronald Cooper, and Jim Forbes. THIRD ROW: Alan Richmond, Dean Benner, Ray Keeler, Jim Vines, Tim Miante, Scott Windrow and Coach Riddle. The 1976 baseball team won four games and lost eight. This team was a very young team, with ten of the players coming from the seventh and eighth grades. Leading hitter for the year was Thad Vermillion. Most Valuable Player was Bryan Sproston. Eighth graders turning in cx- cellent accounts of themselves were Allen Rich- mond, Bryan Sproston, Roger Headrick and Ronald Cooper. With the ten holdovers plus several transfers anticipated from other schools, Head Coach Ben Riddle anticipates having the best team since the championship team ofa few years back. 65

Managers: Andre Sessoms, Patrick Overby, Charles Benbow. A season's record of five wins and one loss gave the track team second place last spring. While taking second, Michael Tate, Padro Phillips, Clayton White, George Evans and the 440 relay team set records. The mile re- lay team was undefeated. Celes- tine McNeil and Gail Wright were the outstanding girl mem- bers. Coaches were Mr. Al Schochet, Mr. Frank Owens and Mrs. Cheryl Griffin. 60 students participated on the team. Q4

Miss Betty Lewis, who coached the team composed of 14 girls, brought the team to a second place finish behind the girls from Eaton, Outstanding players were Patsy Woodson, Sandy Miller and Lindsay Gray.
