I To Scholarship To the students of Lindsay schools who have achieved high rank in scholarship, who have developed sturdy physical bodies, who have strived for spiritual values. The staff of the Leopard dedicate this annual. Realizing that success in any endeavor requires hard work and long hours, we are proud to recognize your ambition, desire, a.nd ability to succeed to, such high standards. May this ges- ture of our esteem for you spur you on to greater success and be an example for others to follow. THE STAFF From Here -Tax The community of Lindsay has, from its beginning, been interested in the education of its young people. This is a picture of the new Lindsay School building, with the school population, made in 1910. Lindsay schools are steeped in the tradition of quality education. Graduates can leave school confident in their ability to compete with the world in whatever endeavor they choose. Students from Lindsay have gone on to success in every profession and field of work. We are proud of our past. This building later burned. Lindsay school is famous over the state for its athletic powers also. This is a winning football team of an earlier day. There have been champions in football, baseball, basketball, and track. -an edflflfi We Grew g .sh 1 N 'vi T f , , riff' Remember this! The student lounge, better known as the Mad House, was one of the barracks build- ings moved here and converted into school rooms to care for the increased enrollment after World War ll. When the new buildings were constructed, it was made available to the Student Council for a student lounge. A new building was constructed in 1917 and later additions were made to the original building. The industrial arts building to the left first built in the 1920's was enlarged later. Many fine pieces of furniture have been made inside its walls. To Here s,.,,,g7 This will be the last picture to be taken of the old high school building we all know so well. It will be torn down immediately following the last day of school to make way for the beautiful new high school being built. This old building has become a landmark in the lives of many people. inside its walls, many events have taken place. It has seen the expectations of enrolling students, the excitement before a big game, the well-earned holidays, the long Spring semester, and at last the graduation of the Senior Class. It has seen joy and happiness on the faces of its students, worry at exam time, and tears at graduation. Yes, this building has Seen a lot, and many of us feel sad at seeing it go, but it has certainly earned a well-deserved rest. ff ts? Another part of a barracks building has been used as the Home Economics department. Progress and growth has caught up with all these facilities and in keep- ing with tradition new and modern buildings are to be built. At the end of this term all these buildings will be torn down to make way for the new ones. But many old memories will linger on. Wha Makes the School Run E Q f f Q X 1 ,ki , . . 'LINDSAY HIGH scnoot tuarmnv K Junior Play f Dr. Emmett is telling the case of Mrs. Savage to his nurse Miss Wilhemina. The Savage family is arguing over Mrs. Ethel Savage's money. Mrs. Savage, a widow, wants to dispose of S10 million in the best possible way, in spite of the efforts of her grown-up Step- children to get their hands on it. She leads these children a merry chase, which takes her even into a sanatorium. There she is relieved to find people interested in her, not her money. With the help of the friends in the sanatorium, she arrives at a solution. The Cast - TI-IE GUESTS: Florence . . . . . Glenda Simpson Hannibal. . . . Bill Scyrkels Fairy May . . . The house which leaks like a sieve is furnished with cast off furni- ture from the attics of the churchmembers. The church members, who are typical of any town, include the choir member who can't sing, but always does, two ladies who constantly fight with each other, and an in- tolerant group which looks down on certain members of the community. This group thinks the parsonage children should set an example and ignore this foreign element. The Spence family has a hard fight on its hands trying to build a new church and parsonage and getting the church members to work together instead of separately. The forthright minister solves- all the problems. He gets a new church and par- sonage and the members work together for the improvement of the church and com - munity. Rev. Spence . . Mrs. Spence. . V SEASON'S RECORD The Leopards started off the 1959 season by defeating the highly respected McGuiness Irish of Oklahoma City to the tune of 36 to 0. The following week was destined to be the lowest hour for the Lindsay fans. The Leopards traveled to Chickasha and fell under the axe of the Chicks by a score of 58 to O. The first conference game was at home with the Purcell Dragons. The final score showed Lindsay on top 24 to 0. On the following Friday night the Leopards journeyed to Anadarko and on a slightly damp field battled the Warriors to an 8 to 8 tie. The next week was a breather as the Leopards took in the Capitol Hill B team from Oklahoma City winning this tilt 42-14. The Leopards now faced the Ardmore Douglass Dragons at Ardmore, our second con- ference game. Lindsay outscored the Dragons 14 to 6 the first half, but the highly dis- puted, last half netted the Dragons 36 points while we failed to score. The score when the final gim sounded was 42-14 in Ardmore's favor. The Leopards I-Iomecoming 'game was played on Saturday night with the Sulphur Bulldogs. The Leopards scored in the final minutes to sack it up 18 to 8. On the succeeding Friday night we were scheduled to play the Madill Wildcats, the fifth ranked team in the state. After an afternoon of sight seeing in Healdton and finally dragging Goofy from the Bowling Alley, we continued our trip to Madill. After an ex- citing and close game, the Leopards scored in the waning minutes to win over unbeaten Madill 26-18. We were defeated in our next game by the Pauls Valley Panthers by a score of 20-16. The final game of the season was brought to a close at Lindsay as the Leopards took on the Wynnewood Savages. This was the last game for 14 graduating Seniors which the Leopards won by a score of 40 to 0. mp Im gffn it 'N - vidfl - Coach Head Coach Coach Jim Penquite Bill Froman Charles Heatley We appreciate the interest and enthusiasm that our coaches have displayed this year.
