The stars seemed close to our primitive an- cestors, but, as the centuries have passed, new means have been discovered which measure distances almost incomprehensible. Our imaginations are tired by the descrip- tions of space ships and the possibilities of mans venture away from the earth to the moon, and even to other planets. Ilivisinnal Ilnmmander Let me aboard this Comet and let me travel through space with the rest of you. l want to travel on and on, in your memories, in your heart, beyond that which we can see into the distant future. We started together, we have been togeth- er, but now some of you are taking a new path up the Milky Way of life. To you, we wish you well. Others are changing to some other planet, while still many more are stay- ing with this Homebase for better or for worse, I guess l will be one of those staying, but somewhere out there in the open spaces of the future, we can all meet in the Spirit if not in reality and talk over the great and moving events of l953-54. Cut loose the anchors, open the throttles, so we can get out and away far enough to look back on all that has happened. May we forget those rough spots, the few uneasy hours, and remember only the happy, the tried and true as we journey on and on and on. ZAFON A. HARTMAN Principal Mr. Hartman helped us over the bumps and through the sound barrier. Office staff included: L. Erlgelking, Mr. Hartman, Miss Graves, M. Moore, R, Loyd, W. Kinder, D, Aldridge, S. Adams, W. Thomas. Ajnmdi'
