But the areatest of all, We live for today. It isn't an easy task to live in our world todayf not even for us teen-aaers. There is still unrest in the world. Boys have to face a future which now includes military service. The girls will face sacri- fices, too. No doubt thoughts of the future occupy a great part of our fhouahts, but nevertheless, We have not been willina to overlook the present for it We have lived rich, happy lives with no handicap to the future---rather, it is an important asset. We also realize the sacrifices made by those before us. We will not forget Corporal ferry Avina, Saraeant Bob Taylor, or the cause to which their lives were given. We feerifaaers of i952 are indeed ready for the future. xwsi wing: fiuiisi-il many rlasscs S We hope this book is as loaded with memories as Carrol1's car ts with kids. O T E S FQcuHy ,,... Actually each i'teenfager is a distinctly individual personality. The changing com- plex of tasks, talents, ambitions, and enio- tions makes school life intensely variable and interesting. Truthfully We can say that each school year is a non-repeating pat- tern of work, defeat, accomplishment, and triumph. A teacher's work is therefore never humdrum or repetitious. The school year l95l-52 can never fade completely in our memories as long as we have this fine book, the result of many hours of painstaking Work, perseverence, and artistic achievement. Thanks to you, Comet Staff, for a job Well done. C. A. CASTLE Superintendent Page I0 Teen-agers? No, the word is not in my dictionary. I looked, but they are in my heart and much a part of my lite. In fact, I see no one but teen-agers day in and out. That's the way I like it. I wouldn't have it other-- wise. And who are these teeneagers who give so much lite and color, vigor and vision to our school and community? The word has become synonymous with high school and those who go there, Every campus swarms L with them either as they wander two by two or gather in groups of twenty and titty, and they always seem to radiate taith in the pres- ent and hope for the future. II I had but one wish granted to me A teen-ager again I surely would be. But ol course you all know and can easily seo I am next to and kin of this lite full and tree. ZAFON A. HARTMAN, Principal. We admit we are not the best, the brightest, the handsomest, the most active and highly talented class that has ever been graduated from Lindsay High School. However, under the reign ot Queen Elizabeth, our loyal mascot, we have made our accomplish- ments in several fields, Members of our class have placed high in everything we have undertaken. Remember the Spring Sing of '50 and the success of our Sophomore Amateur l-lour? The fame of several individuals ot our class spread near and tar. Two F. F. A. Queens, Peggy Brown and Margaret Berry represented our class well. We also claim the first Miss LHS., Iackie Harth. She, too, made a great name tor our class These are a tew ot our outstand- ing members who help to round out one bang up collection of kids. We did paint our bench to perfection and then had one swell time on our great senior ditch day. As we leave L.H.S., knowing those who will remember us, we will always look back and grin as we remember the good old days. AUSBURN, OLETA: Y-Teen 2, 31 G. A. Under the leadership of our president, Dori Kellogg, vice-president, Arel Quessenberryg secretary, Stepheny Cairns, treasurer, David Schutt, and our four ad- visors, we think we had just about the best class and year ever. We hold the claim that never in a thou- sand years will our junior class play be ex- celled in which six ot us had the leads. We showed our talent even more, though, when we pocketed the ten dollar first prize in the Spring Sing. Of course, our sweaters are by far the best looking yet, and We have the cutest emblem which Was designed by Mavis Eastin. But our high light of the year came when we presented the annual junior-senior prom and banquet for the graduating seniors. The theme was one of the future and it will bc many years before they forget the honor bestowed upon them that night in May. Right, above: Uzuiny strutted his stuff to help the juniors take first at the Spring Sing. Right, below: The banquet and prom committee were the following: Top row: D, Schutt. M. Easlin. B Brenner. Lets take a glance back at what the cabinet has accomplished tor the year l95l-52. First, let's look at the Way the hard working yell leader, Marilee Ford, started and carried out the idea ot a pep club. This club lacked a few in number, but still they did lots oi yelling. Next came the Teen-Age Center which was the result of more than one working. From all reports I think this was a big success. Another thing which contributed much to the school was the cleaning up ot the sunflower seeds. This was carried out by hard working Larry Baile-W with the fine Cooperation ot the students. This year we brought the constitution up to date on some items and made some minor changes on others. We have Martha Leeper to thank lor this. Near the end of the year with the help ot Mr. Hartman We started the a la carte service in the cafeteria. This gave the kids a chance to grab a snack between classes. I Want to thank Mr. Hartman and each mem- ber ot the student cabinet tor their tine coopera- tion and help in making the year l95l-52 a big success. So long. GEARY AUSTIN President. By the previous constitution all federation officers were elected at the beginning of each school year and thus the boys did not get their names in the handbook Now the officers will be elected at the same time as the Girls' League officers and their names will be entered in the handbook. Under the supervision of Steve Hanigan and 'l'f'ex Meaders, the boys have taken interest in various projects. Some of these projects seemed small, but they served their purpose which was to keep our school looking nice and running smoothly. Besides the every day things, as keeping the grounds clean and names off school proper ty, the federation undertook jobs concerning the welfare of our fellas. Things like keeping the showers in the boys' P. E. Working and soap in the containers were extras, mainly through the efforts of President Larry Ballew. The federations president, Larry Ballew, came through again when he was appointed to handle the ever present seed situation. Under his persistence and a little persuasion this headache was stamped out almost entirely. Top row. C Crow. P. Wood. G York. L. Lane. D Worthington. B. Earley. B. Weflclle. G. Sczimbler, D. By the previous constitution all federation officers were elected at the beginning of each school year and thus the boys did not get their names in the handbook Now the officers will be elected at the same time as the Girls' League officers and their names will be entered in the handbook. Under the supervision of Steve Hanlgan and 'lTex Meaders, the boys have taken interest in various projects. Some of these projects seemed small, but they served their purpose which was to keep our school looking nice and running smoothly. Besides the every day things, as keeping the grounds clean and names off school proper ty, the federation undertook jobs concerning the welfare of our fellas, Things like keeping the showers in the boys' P. E. Working and soap in the containers were extras, mainly through the efforts of President Larry Ballew. The federation's president, Larry Ballew, came through again when he was appointed to handle the ever present seed situation. Under his persistence and a little persuasion this headache was stamped out almost entirely. on mu K Crow. I'. Wood. G, York, L. Lune, D Worthington, B. Earley, B. VVQ-rlmile. G. Svambler, D.
