Varsiey Cheerleaders Captain- - Sharon Collier Co- Captain- -Ginger Knight Sponsor- - Miss J ay If you have ever cheered your school on to victory in freezing rain with several inches on the field or felt a surge of pride because your aching muscles proved that you had given Li.ndley your support, then you know what it means to be a Lindley cheer- leader. These eight girls have contributed much to the hustle and bustle of ac- tivities around the school. The par- ticipation given to the chicken din- ner sponsored by the Lindley Booster Club, the decoration of the hallswith posters telling you when and where the games will be and others are all a part is the cheerleaders efforts to encourage enthusiasm and school spirit into the school life. Much is done by them which is not known by the student body. This in- cludes the hours spent preparing for the pep rallies on those few scattered Fridays. It is thought that cheerleaders have the excuse of not having enough time for work and assignments. This is far from the truth. They have to have a B average. If this is not maintained, then you are no longer on the squad. The cheerleaders have had a good year, but much of the credit is to be given to Miss Jay. She has been a tremendous sponsor and a great person to work with.

CC JJ Team Cheerleaders If Captain- - Vicki Johnson Co- Captain- - Carolyn Roach Sponsor- - Miss McCormick FRONT ROW, I.. to R.--Donna West, Carolyn Roach, Libby Skinner, BOTTOM ROW--Angela Barber, Trudy Whitfield, Linda Turnipseed, Vicki Johnson, Shelia McMichen. 65 The B-Team cheerleaders is a group of nine girls consisting of seventh, eighth, and ninth graders. On Tuesdays and Thurs- days they stay after school for two hours and practice. The uniforms consist of a black and white houndstooth check skirt, with a black vest monogramed with J.l..l-I. There is also a white blouse underneath the vest and they wear white knee socks with white tennis shoes. This is the first year of cheering for every girl on the squad and this is due to a fine sponsor, Miss McCormick. These girls deserve the support of the entire stu- dent body because of the tremendous job they have done this year.
