SOCIAL STUDIE Mr. Sullivan, personable and capable, is a most un- tiring teacher. He is duly recognized by his students as being fully aware of their needs, and he tries to fulfill their needs as he is capable of doing so. , Mr. Hardy is a large link in our Social Studies Department. He is the director of the department and the sponsor of the Beta Club. There are six teachers of Social Studies, Mr. Hardy, Mrs. Turk, Mr. Sullivan, Miss McMackin, Miss McCormick, and Mr. Robertson. These experienced teachers give their students the best in Social Studies education. They contribute greatly to the knowledge of the stu- dents at Lindley. Social Studies, being a major sub- ject, requires a number of teachers of the highest caliber. These teachers certainly fulfill these re- quirements. They are teachers which we are proud of and are very grateful to for their services to the school and to the student body. We think that this year's Social Studies Department is of if not the best in the Cobb County System, and that they should be commended for the fine job they are doing. Mr. Robertson, who is outstanding in his field of Social Studies, is al- so sponsor of the Student Council, which proves him to be willing to help his students. 34

Instead of just studying the book word by word, he conducts interesting experiments which give the pupils a good background for further science courses. In science, teaching by experimen- tation gives the students a good idea and it expresses a thought better than words. Her goal is to give the students a promising future in the science field. 33
