Fifteenth President Inaugurated Represented in the inaugural academic procession are distinguished delegates from some 250 colleges and universities throughout the country and also 24 learned societies and associations. john Anthony Brown, Jr., was formally in- augurated as the fifteenth president of Lindenwood College on October 20, l966. Following the presentation of the president- elect by Dr. F. L. McCluer, President emeritus, Dr. Brown was installed in office by john M. Black, President of the Board of Directors of Lindenwood College. Dr. Calvin Darlington Linton, dean of the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences at the George Washington University, was the principal speaker of the afternoon. An enthusiastic audience received his remarks on the role of the liberal arts college today. Ceremonies concluded with Dr. Brown's in- augural address. To a responsive crowd numbering about one thousand persons, the new President spoke of his esteem for the college community, and also suggested several modifications in its structure. The audience seemed most receptive to his proposing the possibility of a male enrollment in the math and sci- ence departments, provided that, as Dr. Brown em- phasized, no qualified young woman were denied admission.
