+I .ix The Varsity Cheerleading Squad, coached by Mrs. Colangelo, had a very successful year. The squad consisted of 8 members during football season, while there were only six during basket- ball season. The girls attended the USCA Sum- mer Camp at Western Michigan Uni' versity. They learned many new cheers, mounts, and stunts. In the overall com- petition they placed 4th. Besides bringing out the spirit in the fans, the girls also demonstrated their all-round skills by performing a glove routine to Back in Black, and a spirit promoting Halloween skit, at a football pep assembly. During basketball sea- son, the slightly smaller squad proved to be just as talented as they accompa- nied the pom-pon girls in a routine to Working Class Dog, and punked out while cheering for the popular rock station, 105 FM, at the D.J.ffa- culty basketball game. At this year's banquet, awards were presented to Denise Rodgers as the Most Valuable, Heather Tunningley as Most Improved, and Teresa DuBois re- ceived the Coaches Award.
