CLASS HISTORY Deal' Diary September 1947 was a happy time xn the lxves of approximately 55 pupils who were startlng their Freshman Year in Linden H1gh School for now we were truly growxng up and f1nish1ng the last hard 4 laps in our educatxon Oh we had our problems choosing our electlve subjects 1 suppose was about the most d1ff1cult to begln with then keeping our marks up so we could take part in sports and 8CtiVltl6S became the uppermost problems of many of us but we had fun too' For instance we had loads of fun dressing up at lnitla tion time The boys were dressed as girls fplus make upy and the girls wore men s long underwear and large shirts with long shxrt ta1ls hangxng The Senlors had an assembly xn which we Freshman were made to be the actors and the Sophomore s really made our 1nit 1at1on a gala affaxr Things happened as they usually do in a Freshman class We elected our class offxcers They were President Richard Lannlng V1ce Pres1dent Howard Hitchcock Secretary Ruby Elllott and Treasurer Robert Dean We put on an assembly we sponsored a few school dances and we were mlghty proud when some of our classmembers made the Varsity Teams We elected Ruby Elliott as our Queen But the year went fast fas all good thlngs doy and before we had barely caught our breathes we were Sophomores' We began our Sophomore year in September 1948 and needless to say we really felt anclent compared with those lowly little Freshman but we soon got plans for their lnitlation under way after which they became a real part of our h1gh school The excitement of a new school year beglnnxng soon d1ed down and we chose our class offlcers President James Evans V1ce Presldent Laura Parker Secretary Joanne Stiff Treasurer Howard Hitchcock quntll he moved then Robert Dean took overj really buckled down that year and things went pretty smoothly Aga1n we had the usual dances and school activltles and great interest in sports T1me however went fast and we soon were leapxng rxght into our Junlor year That year our class officers were President Laura Parker Vice President Irene Zwierzynskl Secretary Ruby Elliott Treasurer Robert Verrell Also that year the Student Council was begun and our 2 class representatives were Robert Allen and Vlvlan Mogg comedy The Inner Willy which was our flrst renowned success The Student Counc1l Representatives were Bob Allen and Vivian Mogg Not too long after our play we got plans for our J Hop under way our second BIG event of our junior year Tlme passed quickly after the J Hop gayelty was over and we became the m1g ty Senlors f L Our Senior Year was a quick one The Sen1or Play and the Senlor Prom our bxg events of the year were not outstandingly important because there were so many thxngs to take up our txme The Senior Class Officers were Pres1dent Robert Dean Vice President Roger Verrell Secretary Marilyn 0 Dell Treasurer Roger Kaufman Preparatxons for our gradu atlon were under way throughout the year our Senlor plctures done by Craxne Studxo were excellent fvery successfulj orderlng our announcements and name cards and debat1ng on and planning our Senior trips took up a great deal of our t1me Our Student Councxl Represen tatlves were Ruby Elllott and Joanne Stiff The one huge problem of our Senior Year was the ways and means of earnxng money for our Senior Trip but we have succeededH As all good things must come to an end 1n June 1951 must our relgn as Senxors at od old L but we ll always remember and respect the a1d g1ven us by the faculty 1n four struggle for educatxon and our gay years at Linden High Parting is such sweet sorrow' And dear Dxary th1s last year has been a trylng one War wxll leave its lmprlnt demanding our fellow students teachers and members of our fam1l1es causing us strain and worry But we will carry on Here we stand on the thres hold of l1fe ready to face what lies ahead hoplng to face it squarely I know that we joxn each other in offerlng thanks to all those who helped make our school lxfe happy and 1n offering up a prayer for the very best that l1fe has to offer to everyone connected w1th good old L Hlghl' And dear dear Diary may those last words carry the wish for happxness and good luck to all of ou From The Senlor Class 59 .-- 5 -' . . we .
