The small school had its compensations. One of these was the senior trip. The senior year meant the final push to raise funds which climaxed four years of concentrated effort on the part of each class to make sure there was enough money on hand to send the entire senior class to Washington D.C. and New York City. Our drive began with a car wash in July. The annual senior chili supper was enjoyed by many and also netted a large profit for our class. During the latter part of November and continu- ing through December we turned Christmas card salesmen and walked the streets of Linden ringing the doorbells and rapping on doors to sell cards and Christmas wrapping paper. We, the class of 1971 leave Linden High School to meet the challenges of the future. Behind us we leave the old red brick school building which has been our home away from home for many years. Although our building lacked the modern facilities of many of the newer schools, we are proud to have had the honor of being the last senior class to attend Linden High. All of this activity helped us reach our goal and we were ready for a trip to Washington D.C. and New York City for eight days of fun and excitement. In Washington D.C. we visit such historical sites as the White House, the Supreme Court, the Smithsonian Institute and the Washington Monument. Then on to New York, the cement jungle, where we visit the Empire State Building, the NBC television network, the United Nations and attend a movie at the Radio City Music Hall.
